Nollywood veteran actor, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), has mourned the death of his close friend, Saint Obi, whose demise was announced a few hours ago. The news of the death of Obi Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, came as a shock to RMD and other members of the entertainment industry.
Gist Reel gathered that, Saint Obi died on May 7, after a prolonged illness, at the home of one of his siblings in Jos. RMD took to his Instagram page to share a photo of Saint Obi and recount his heartwarming moment with the deceased.
RMD revealed that Saint Obi had approached him in the ’90s seeking help to get into the movie industry, but RMD was not doing any film at the time. He recommended Saint Obi to a friend and brother who did more productions than anyone else, Zeb Ejiro. RMD wrote his contact details behind his card, and off Saint Obi went, eventually becoming a big star. In RMD’s words; “The interesting thing then was that Zeb loved him so much he told me I had given him a natural replacement for me in the movies… Then a few days ago, Zik Zulu called, and usually when he calls, it’s something important. He gave the news of St Obi’s demise. We were both in denial and promised each other to find out more details. Then the news hit me again yesterday… even now, it’s still difficult to believe.” RMD described Saint Obi as a gentleman and dignified. He expressed his condolences to the family Saint Obi left behind, saying; “Rest in power my brother. My prayers are with the family you’ve left behind. May God give them and us all the fortitude to bear your sudden departure” See below;
