Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku has said that Nigerian international Victor Osimhen is the ‘best striker’, presumably in the Italian topflight league.
Lukaku said this while speaking to Italian television channel Sky Sport Italia on Sunday, January 1, ahead of Wednesday’s match against Serie A leaders Napoli.
Osimhen’s terrific form for Napoli has seen him lauded by a number of Serie A legends, among them ex-AS Roma captain Francesco Totti and former AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi. The Nigerian footballer is currently Serie A’s leading scorer with nine goals from nine matches.
Commenting on Osimhen’s goalscoring exploits, Lukaku said;
“Spalletti has done a great job, we have to say.
“They [Napoli] have really strong players. I’ve been out and seen many of their games. Napoli are in a good moment. Osimhen scores many goals, [Piotr] Zielinski is well, Kvara [Khvicha Kvaratskhelia], on the left, [Hirving] Lozano or [Matteo] Politano on the right.
“Osimhen is really strong. Now he’s the best striker. We have to be honest. He’s strong and he’s doing really well for Napoli. They are first in the standings. We have respect, but not fear”.
