A 17-year-old female student of Osun State University, Victory Ehiremen, and her boyfriend, Ayobami Ariyo, were paraded for allegedly luring a man from Lagos to Osun through social media and robbing him of N1.5m. According to the Commissioner of Police, Kehinde Longe, the incident unfolded when Victory met the complainant on a social media platform a few days before the robbery. After exchanging messages, she invited him to her location in Ikire. However, upon arrival, Victory led the victim to her boyfriend’s house, where he was attacked by a group of individuals who subsequently transferred N1.5 million from his bank account. The swift response of the police to the case led to the arrest of Ayobami Ariyo from his hideout. Further investigation led to the apprehension of two other accomplices. The police are actively pursuing the arrest of other individuals involved in the crime. During questioning by journalists, Victory claimed that she was unaware of her boyfriend’s intention to forcefully obtain money from the victim. She expressed her distress when Ayobami and his friend began assaulting the complainant after barging into the room where she was with him. Additionally, she revealed that her boyfriend, who she accused of being involved in internet fraud, gifted her N40,000 two days after the incident.

17-year-old boy and accomplice arrested for impregnating 10 ladies in Rivers

A 17-year-old boy, Noble Uzuchi, and Chigozie Ogbonna, 29, have been arrested for impregnating ten ladies in Rivers state. The Rivers State Police Command revealed that the two boys were allegedly working with a baby factory. They were arrested alongside two female suspects, Favour Bright, 30 and Peace Alikoi, 40, who is the alleged mastermind of the operation. The four suspects reportedly operated in Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre local government areas of the state where they rescued 10 pregnant girls. The police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko revealed that the suspects were arrested after the police got a tip. In her words: “On Saturday, January 7, 2023, around 4.45 pm, while acting on credible intelligence available to the Rivers State Police Command, C4I Intelligence Unit operatives raided two houses at Igwuruta and Omagwa communities respectively, where victims of child trafficking were being kept.” The police further added that Uzuchi and Ogbonna were hired to have marathon sex with the girls and get them pregnant. Superintendent of Police, Iringe-Koko added that when a victim gives birth, the leader kept the child and paid the victim a sum of N500,000 and that some of the babies previously delivered in the houses had been sold. She said: “All the victims confessed that they were lured to the illicit sales of children because of the need to meet some financial challenges. A Honda Pilot Jeep, white, was recovered from the syndicate leader. “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department and efforts are being intensified to track and arrest the buyers of the children already sold out.”

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin while sharing videos of the boy explaining himself, stated that the lad had just completed two years sentence for his involvement in cult activities, and two days after he got freed, he broke into someone’s house to cart away valuables.
