Carlo Ancelotti will become the coach of Brazil next summer when his current contract with Real Madrid expires. Carlo Ancelotti has been strongly linked with the Brazil job and Brazilian Football Confederation president Ednaldo Rodrigues has now announced the plan. In an intriguing move, Fluminense boss Fernando Diniz has been appointed on a 12-month contract and will then make way for Ancelotti in June 2024.

Rodrigues said; “His (Diniz) game plan is almost similar to that of the coach that will take over at Copa America, Ancelotti. “We don’t call him an interim coach of the national team. He will come and make the transition in Brazil for Ancelotti.” Real Madrid have not commented on Ancelotti’s link-up with Brazil. And no details regarding his contract with the South Americans have been shared. Ancelotti would be the first non-Brazilian manager to take over the team since a brief stint by Argentinian Filpo Nunez in 1965. While three non-Brazilians have previously managed the team, none have ever guided the country to the World Cup, making Ancelotti’s potential achievement historic.

The five-time world champions have been coached by Under-20 manager Ramon Menezes in recent friendlies against African teams where they last lost to Senegal 4-2. 64-year-old Ancelotti began his second spell at the Bernabeu in 2021, after leaving Everton, and has won the Champions League, La Liga, a Copa del Rey, and the Club World Cup among a string of successes since his return. The Champions League final win against Liverpool in 2022 was Ancelotti’s fourth European triumph as a manager, and second with Real Madrid, after also winning the competition twice with AC Milan.
13-year-old Enzo signed his first contract with Real Madrid last year and will continue to develop as a center-forward in their youth set-up. Since he’s already in Spain, it makes sense that he would feel a strong connection to the European country. This is also an opportunity for him to forge his path. 
The South American country’s national team still has no coach since Tite resigned from the post after the team’s loss to Croatia in the 2022 World Cup quarter-final. The Athletic reported that while Carlo Ancelotti remains the favourite to take the job, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has drafted Mourinho as an alternative if their attempt to appoint the Italian as the next coach is unsuccessful. It was also learnt that the CBF’s preferred candidate, Ancelotti, has requested to defer any meeting before the ongoing season ends. Ancelotti has a contract with Real Madrid until 2024 but he has a condition in his contract that he has to win at least one major trophy this season. Other candidates who have been shortlisted are Fenerbahce manager Jorge Jesus, Fluminense head coach Fernando Diniz, and Palmeiras’ Abel Ferreira. 
ESPN Brazil reported early on Friday morning that Ancelotti had agreed to take over as Selecao’s head coach, starting in July 2023. Although nothing had been signed, the outlet claimed Ancelotti gave his verbal go-ahead to a three-year contract lasting until after the 2026 World Cup. Both Madrid and Ancelotti have denied the claim. Speaking at a press conference, the Real Madrid coach said; 
“I don’t know anything about this, I don’t even know what they reported in Brazil. I’m Real Madrid coach, my contract is until June 2024.” The Brazilian football federation also denied that any agreement had been reached, saying in a statement: “The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) informs that the news released this Friday that the coach of Real Madrid, Italian Carlo Ancelotti, is the new coach of the Brazilian national team is unfounded.”
