Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress has been announced by the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Saidu Yusuf, as the winner of the governorship polls in Kebbi State.
Following the supplementary election held last Saturday, Nasir Idris made a total of 409,225 votes, while his closest rival, General Aminu Bands of the PDP, secured 360,940 votes. The outcome of the election led to jubilations across the state by Idris’ supporters, while PDP supporters were left in shock. During his acceptance speech, Governor-elect Idris promised to lead an all-inclusive government, building on the successes of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. “Let me use this opportunity to thank our teeming supporters who turned out en masse to vote APC into the office to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy. “To those who we contested with from other parties, you should know we have no other state than Kebbi. You should therefore join hands with us to move the state forward,” he said.
