Mmesoma Ejikeme opens up on origin of her 362 JAMB score

Mmesoma Ejikeme, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra State, has explained how she got her impressive score of 362 in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Ejikeme denied the allegations made by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) that she manually manipulated her UTME result to win a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors. Ejikeme revealed that she did not visit any computer centre to check her UTME result, but instead accessed it on the JAMB portal after the exams earlier this year. She spoke on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily via telephone on Wednesday, July 5, refuting the claims made by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin on Sunday, July 2. The 19-year-old student stated in an interview: “You have to register on the JAMB portal with your email address and number; I went to [the] JAMB portal. On that JAMB portal, I tried to get my result; they redirected me to another server.” “That’s where I entered my reg number, and when I checked the result, that was what I got there and downloaded it. I didn’t go to any computer centre.” When asked if she was the only one who printed the outdated UTME result sheet, she said she had not seen anyone with a similar copy. Ejikeme said; “You know phones now, if you want to check, you have the reg number. That’s the main thing you use in downloading your [results]. It’s not the hard copy that I’m talking of.” Romanus Ejikeme, Mmesoma’s father, also confirmed that he did not accompany his daughter to any business or computer centre to print out her UTME result.
