A houseboy has been accused of killing his employer, who happens to be a lecturer, using a pestle. The deceased, identified as Chima Anolue, was a respected lecturer at the Psychology Department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka.

And as I was cooking the rice, he asked me why I did not wash plates. I did not reply. He then asked why I wasn’t responding to his question,” the suspect said. “In the process, he slapped me. But I told him I usually have ear problems, and that people don’t slap me. As I was saying that, he angrily asked if I was still talking while he was talking. And therefore, he slapped me again and brought out cane and started flogging me all over,” “Then in the process, I got angry, and we started fighting. It was also in the process of that fight that I picked up the pestle in the kitchen and hit him on the head.” It is alleged that the suspect repeatedly struck his employer with a pestle after being questioned about the completion of his household duties. Shockingly, after rendering Chima Anolue unconscious, the suspect is said to have further assaulted him with a knife, apparently to make it appear as if a third party had attacked the deceased. Local security personnel apprehended the suspect, who later confessed to the crime. A family source said; “While friends and relatives of the deceased were taking him to the hospital that night for medical attention after the encounter, the suspect was attempting to choke him to death right inside the vehicle where he was sitting close to him allegedly to conceal his atrocious acts. It was in the process that we discovered what was going on and therefore we started suspecting him. As that was going on also, the victim who was still alive then, used his last strength to mention the suspect’s name, before he finally gave up the ghost,” “In his confessions, the suspect first said that it was the girlfriend of the deceased who visited him that night that attacked him. However, he eventually confessed that he was the person who killed him with a pestle.”
The 48-year-old lover of the young man identified as Ijeoma Felix met the suspect in a Facebook group in 2020 and started dating. According to reports, the suspect stole the victim’s car and other valuables. While being interrogated, the suspect on Tuesday confessed to having hit the victim with a pestle during an allegedly violent argument at her two-bedroom residence in the Lugbe area of the FCT on October 24. The suspect told the police that after they met on Facebook, the deceased asked him to move in with her but as time went in, the relationship became toxic with him being the victim. He further disclosed that he was engaged in an argument with the deceased over a Toyota Highlander she had given him, which he sold without her consent. However, their argument escalated into a fistfight where the deceased met her death. The suspect disclosed that after killing Ijeoma, he took the car documents of his lover’s Camry and sold it for N1.7 million.
