Argentinian football star, Lionel Messi has topped the list of highest-paid athletes for 2022, according to Forbes list.

While Messi who ended the year by winning the 2022 World Cup took the first spot in the list, Cristiano Ronaldo came third in the 2022 highest-paid athletes list. Basketball star, LeBron James took the second position.
Messi and Ronaldo, who are the two most recognisable stars in football across the world, have often been competing both on and off the pitch for accolades.

Kely Nascimento, Brazilian football legend Pele’s daughter has taken to Instagram to pen down an emotional tribute to him.

It was reported earlier that Pele who is a three-time World Cup winner died at the age of 82 on Thursday evening, after a long battle with colon cancer.
Family members had gathered at the Albert Einstein Israelita Hospital in Sao Paulo shortly before Christmas after news that his colon cancer had worsened and posted a series of pictures of their bedside vigil over recent days.

Penning down a tribute to him on Instagram, Kely wrote;
“Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace.”

Mbappe clearly didn’t want to re-sign at PSG but caved to ‘personal’ pressure

Former Real Madrid star, Jese Rodríguez Ruiz has revealed that French footballer Kylian Mbappe was pressured into re-signing for PSG this summer.

Mbappe was linked to Madrid last year, but a deal wasn’t reached as he re-signed for PSG who offered him more money among other things.
Shedding more light on what happened during an interview with AS, Jese insisted that Mbappe felt personally pressured to play for the French giants.

He said;
“Come on, I was clear about it because he told me. He told me and I tell more people: those of us who spoke Spanish. I think it was more personal than professional pressure. All players make decisions, they can be wrong or accept the decision.
“But the people cannot intervene. For example, the president of France cannot tell you ‘don’t go here, you have to stay. In my opinion, I think he felt more personal than professional pressure to make a decision.”

Basketmouth deletes ‘divorce post’ hours after his old video condemning divorce resurfaced

Nigerian comedian and actor, Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has deleted the post he made on his Instagram account announcing his divorce from Elsie.
This is coming shortly after an old video of the singer condemning divorce resurfaced on social media.

Recall that the father of four had gotten tongues wagging after announcing his separation from his wife.
However, days after his announcement, an old video of him and his wife, Elsie speaking against divorce in an interview with Channel Africa, resurfaced online.
In the interview, Basket vowed never to get a divorce as the comedian braggingly affirmed that there is no good marriage that ends in divorce which is why he and Elsie can’t divorce.
The couple further added that divorce isn’t on their table as they love each other.
However, hours after the old video resurfaced, Basketmouth took down the post he made about his separation from his wife.

Nigerian singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has reacted to a viral TikTok video which mimicked her epic fall on stage at the Afrochella concert.
Recall that, the Mavin signee had a painful fall at the Afrochella concert in Ghana while performing on stage.

A video of the moment had trended online which provoked reactions from fans and netizens.
After the event, the singer called out the show organizers, advising them to clean up their stage after each performance while also describing the incident as painful and unnecessary.

A TikTok user recreated the video of the epic fall, mimicking Ayra Starr.
Reacting to the video, the musician shared the video on her Instagram story with the caption:

Fufu seller celebrates her growth as she relocates to UK (Video)

A Nigerian woman who used to sell ‘fufu’ to make ends meet has shared her excitement after relocating to the UK.
She posted a video, celebrating her transition from selling fufu to searching for new opportunities abroad.

In the video, she gave a short recollection of her past while she was still selling fufu in Nigeria.
Further into the video, she was shown getting her international passport and heading towards an airport to catch a flight to the UK with her siblings.

On arrival, she and her siblings could be seen playing on the streets of UK while devouring snacks.

Football legend, Pele dies at 82

Football lovers all around the world mourn the death of famous Brazil football legend, Pele who has died at the age of 82.

Pele was said to have been battling colon cancer and reportedly spent Christmas in the hospital. He was receiving treatment for cardiac and renal dysfunction, before his death.
His sad demise was confirmed today, 29th of December, 2022. Pele’s daughter, Kely Nascimento confirmed the news on Instagram, in a post that read:
“Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace.”

His death was also further confirmed via the official page of ESPN. The post read:
“Brazil legend Pelé has died at the age of 82.
The original GOAT. A trailblazer. One of the finest players to ever lace up.
He will be missed by millions.”
