“At 14, my math teacher predicted Mavin would sign me” – Ayra Starr recounts

Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has recounted how her mathematics teacher in secondary school predicted that her record label, Mavin would sign her. The singer whose real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, revealed this while speaking during the recent edition of “Afrobeats Intelligence” with Joey Akan. Ayra Starr revealed that her mathematics teacher believed in her talent and even predicted that Mavin would sign her one day.

According to her, she was only 14 years old at the time, and because he believed in her, she was motivated to join the choir and improve her singing. The teacher was also the one who encouraged her to share her videos online for people to see. Just as he predicted, she was signed to Don Jazzy’s record label, Mavin years later. In her words; “I have a teacher that literally inspired me. He said I was going to be signed to Mavin. It’s crazy. I was 14 then, and he said, ‘Mavin is going to sign you. Start making videos.’ He would just inspire me. He was even Muslim, but he would tell me to go to church and join the choir. He was my math teacher.”

Man reportedly dies of shock as he learns wife got pregnant for someone abroad

A man has reportedly died of shock upon learning that his wife whom he sent abroad with his two kids has gotten pregnant for someone. The story was shared on the micro-blogging platform by a Tweep identified as @BolanleCole.

According to BolanleCole, the man had struggled to send his wife and kids to Liverpool, UK so they can have a better life. However, the wife went there and began having extramarital affairs with other men until she fell pregnant. The shock of the news had been too much for the man which reportedly led to his demise. @BolanleCole wrote: “A man struggled and sent his wife and two kids to Liverpool in uk for better life and conducive environment only for the wife to start having affairs with another man and even got pregnant for the man. The husband in Nigeria didn’t know until the woman gave birth, it was the shock of the news that killed the man. Things are happening.”

Charlyboy thankful after surviving prostate cancer

Nigerian veteran singer, Charly Boy has expressed gratitude to God after surviving prostate cancer. The veteran singer who will be holding a thanksgiving in a Lagos church on Saturday, April 29, did not reveal when he came down with the ailment.

Charly Boy was however optimistic that his “instrument” will start functioning now. He concluded by stating that “it is not easy to be a man”. He wrote on Instagram; “Guys, Tomorrow I Dey go thank God for sparing my life, from Prostate Cancer. “Hopefully my instrument go begin function again, I go let una know cos I go do another Thanks giving for dat one It’s not easy to be a Manoooo.”

Nigerian singer, Davido, has gotten tongues wagging after flaunting a receipt of 35,000 dollars spent on his cousin’s birthday. The singer’s cousin, Tunji Adeleke, turned a new age and Davido decided to splash wads of dollars to celebrate him.

He flaunted a receipt containing the list of items he bought for the celebration and the total bill amounted to about 35k dollars. Social media users have shared their thoughts about the money splurge and many people hailed the singer for loving his family. Lawyer recounts how he nearly ended it all after girlfriend broke up with him

A Nigerian lawyer, Adama Muhammed Ndakudu has recounted how he nearly drank methylated spirit after his girlfriend broke up with him. The lawyer took to his Twitter page to share his story. According to him, the incident happened when he was at the university. He disclosed how he sat in his office crying like a baby over the breakup. In an attempt to help, a colleague decided to accompany him to the lady’s house to beg on his behalf but she got angry and told him not to bring people to her house. In his word; “It’s the kneeling to beg a woman that is shocking you? I have attempted to drink methylated spirit cos my then-girlfriend was breaking up with me and was caught crying in the office while covering my face with a newspaper. I think I just finished 200level that year,” “A sister-friend volunteered to follow me to her house to beg, to think I did absolutely nothing wrong, she was just done with the relationship, she said I should not bring the crowd to her house.”

Suspected yahoo boys attack cleric for ‘ripping’ their colleague of N500k (Video)

Some suspected yahoo boys have been spotted in a viral video attacking an Islamic cleric popularly known as “alfa” for allegedly “defrauding” their colleague of N500k. One of the suspected yahoo boys had approached the Islamic cleric for a soap which he hoped would in his daily business of defrauding people. He reportedly paid N500k for the soap.

Weeks after use, he discovered that the soap wasn’t potent and giving the result he wanted in his fraud business. The Islamic cleric was lured back after the suspected yahoo boy told him that his friends wanted the soap.

He was seen in the viral video attacking the Islamic cleric with his friends while shouting “ole” (thief). They also threatened to make him eat his soap. It is however unclear if they got a refund afterward. Watch the video below…

8-year-old girl tests positive for HIV after mother’s boyfriend molested her

An eight-year-old girl has tested positive for HIV after the boyfriend of her mother who is married raped her. The boyfriend of the girl’s mother who is a married man has been identified as Jude Chinedu aka, Ijiegbe. He allegedly raped the minor in their house in Alegbor Community, Uvwie LGA of Delta state.

According to a report by DailyTrust, copies of the medical tests showed that the woman and her daughter are infected with the dreaded disease. “The suspect who is a married man has fled the area. The suspect is the boyfriend of the woman and had been squatting with her and her daughter. He fled the house after it was discovered that he’s been having carnal knowledge of the little girl.” “The police have mounted a manhunt for the suspect who is from Anambra State. Each time the woman who sells pap goes out for hawking, the boyfriend will bathe the little girl and have sex with her. He usually threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it.” “The mother noticed sudden changes in the child’s behaviour and a smelly discharge from her body and after several interrogation, she opened up that the suspect had raped her over and over and when the woman confronted the suspect, he ran away from the house.’’a source said. The young girl was taken to the hospital after the rape incident by a human rights activist based in the state, called Comrade Kelvin Ejumudo where it was discovered that the child has been infected with HIV. The police are currently investigating the matter as the boyfriend is currently on the run.

5 soldiers killed by mine explosion in Borno

Five Nigerian soldiers have been killed after their vehicle hit a mine planted with an explosion by some Islamic State group in Borno. According to reports, the explosion in the mines was suspected to have been planted by Islamic State group-aligned jihadists near the border with Niger.

According to the militia leaders, the unit was on a routine patrol in Laayi village near the northeastern town of Damasak in Borno state. The Militia leader Babakura Kolo disclosed to AFP that some terrorists planted an improvised explosive device in the mines. The Militia leader said they suspect that it was planted by the Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) group. The explosion “killed all five troops on board”, he said. The killing of the military men through explosion comes after it was reported that some jihadists had attacked the village the previous night, kidnapping four residents including the local chief, the second militia leader, Ibrahim Liman said.
