A practising Nigerian doctor shares a touching letter received from a patient of his penned in her final moments before losing the fight to cancer. A doctor identified as @draizident on the microblogging platform, X expressed heartbreak as he disclosed the letter handed to him by the sister of his late patient.
According to him, the cancer patient wrote the letter and instructed her sister to hand it to the medical professional who was kind to her during her health challenges. In the note, she appreciated the doctor for his kind words, and how he helped her fight through the depression of battling a life-threatening disease. “I lost a patient recently, she gave her sister this letter to give me before she passed. This profession, this profession! This life! 💔😭,” he captioned the letter. The letter reads in part, “I want to thank you for being there for me. Even when they put you in another unit, you still come to check up on me. You are a good doctor and I pray for you every time that God will bless your kind heart. You have made me not to be depressed since my cancer started but you make it better…”
