Defending champions Liverpool are out of the Carabao Cup after being defeated by Manchester City last night.
Manchester City booked their place in the quarterfinal of the EFL Cup also known as Carabao Cup after a 3-2 win in the thriller against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, December 22.
Nathan Ake’s header gave Manchester City the big win on a night when Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah, and Kevin De Bruyne all shone.
Haaland scored his 24th goal of the season just 10 minutes into the match, only for Fabio Carvalho to equalize for Liverpool.
Riyad Mahrez restored the home side’s advantage early in the second half, but Salah equalized within a minute.
While Darwin Nunez missed so many chances to put the defending champions ahead, an unmarked Ake popped up at the back post to nod in the decisive goal after Kevin De Bruyne’s cross.
