Skiibii goes emotional as he recounts his rumoured demise

On August 14, 2015, the Nigerian music industry was thrown into a state of shock when news broke that Skiibii, a former Five Star Music act, had slumped and died. The rumours spread like wildfire, with many fans and industry insiders mourning the loss of one of Nigeria’s most promising young talents. However, it was later revealed that the news was false and that Skiibii was very much alive. The incident had been a case of misinformation as the young musician had only fainted and was rushed to the hospital. In a recent interview, Skiibii opened up about how he’s been able to keep the momentum going after that. He admitted that he was struggling with a condition that would frequently cause him to lose consciousness. He narrated how he had experienced that on different occasions at the airport and how he almost gave up on his dreams, especially when the news of his death spread out. He stated how very tough it was for him to deal with it. It was a difficult time for the young musician, who was still trying to make a name for himself in the industry. The rumours had threatened to derail his career before it even began, and he had to work hard to regain the trust of his fans and industry insiders. However, Skiibii refused to be defined by the rumours. Instead, he used the incident as motivation to work even harder and prove his worth as a musician. He poured his heart and soul into his music, and it paid off. Not only did he survive the harrowing ordeal, but he also managed to brush off a scathing shade from Falz in one of his songs. Even musical heavyweights Davido and Wizkid had penned tributes to him at the time. According to him, Wizkid posted his photo on his page and mourned him with a sorrowful caption. Skiibii said: “I still remember Wizkid’s caption. He said all he wanted was to be happy.” In the midst of it all, Skiibii found the courage to push through, faced his hustle, and has ever since been propelled to new musical heights.
