Nigerian lady claims to make N1 billion from selling Kulikuli

A Nigerian lady identified as Angela Job Emodiae has claimed that she made ₦1 billion from making and selling spicy kuli kuli. Emodiae shared this on Facebook while recounting her business achievements last year, 2022.

She wrote: “I hit 1 billion naira in sales in year 2022 selling spicy kuli kuli and peanut burger. This year 2023 I set target for myself to hit 2 billion naira in sales. All from this online space [sic].” Reacting to this, @amazonchic said: “1 billion naira from kuli kuli because Na gold u dey sell.” @domninionfera commented: “This is hard to believe although business pays.” @demaineee added: “Lori Iro. Everybody for dey do kuli kuli.”

NBA demands N5 billion for slain lawyer's family, to monitor trial

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has demanded a whopping N5 billion as compensation to murdered lawyer  Mrs. Bolanle Raheem’s family.

The Association has also said that it will be monitoring the trial of Assistant Superintendent, Drambi Vandi, who allegedly shot and killed Mrs. Raheem in Lagos on Christmas Day.
In a statement signed by the branch member and rights activist of NBA Lagos, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), he disclosed that he was appointed to lead the monitoring team.
The statement read: “The NBA Lagos in conjunction with the NBA President, Mr. Y.C. Mikyau, SAN, has decided to be part of the prosecution of the policeman as part of its efforts towards securing quick and effective justice for the family of the deceased.
“In this regard, the NBA will be partnering with the Ministry of Justice during the trial.
“Mr. Adegboruwa has in turn obtained relevant briefing from the Hon. Attorney-General of Lagos State and has secured the assurances of an accelerated prosecution once the case file is received from the police.
“The NBA is also seeking monetary compensation for the family of Mrs. Raheem from the government of Lagos State, the Federal Government, and indeed the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission, through its Human Rights Committee.

EFCC arraigns Kogi Governor's nephew over N10 billion fraud

Aliyu Bello, a nephew to Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has been remanded in prison by a Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, over alleged N10.2 billion fraud.

He was arraigned alongside one Dauda Sulaiman and one Abdulsalami Hudu of the Kogi State House Administration by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
They were arraigned on a 10-count charge of misappropriation and money laundering, EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said in a statement on Thursday, December 15.

The statement read:
“Bello and Sulaiman are accused of fraudulently withdrawing a sum of N10,270,556,800 (Ten Billion, Two Hundred and Seventy Million, Five Hundred and Fifty-six Thousand Eight Hundred Naira), from the Kogi State treasury which they delivered to a Bureau de Change operator, Rabiu Tafada, in Abuja to keep or change to foreign currencies for personal gains,” 
They have both been remanded in prison by Justice James Kolawole Omotosho pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions.
