Toke’s participation in Nigeria’s 1411-man delegation to COP28 sparked outrage online, with many netizens doubting her presence at the meeting. In the newest episode of her podcast, ‘TokeMoments,’ the actress stated that she was unconcerned about the online call-out but began taking the backlash seriously when some significant individuals began calling her ‘Item Seven’ at a hotel in Dubai. Nollywood actress, Ini Edo, a guest on the podcast, asked Toke, “How did your attendance at the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai go? Did you get into the conversations from the panels?”

I accomplished everything I set out to do with it [COP28]. I was just shocked [by the uproar]. And I think because Dubai is three hours [ahead of Nigeria], I woke up to see the backlash on social media. “For me, it started feeling serious when important people started calling me. And I think that for me was funny. I walked into this hotel in Dubai where they were a lot of important people, all of them have seen the backlash and they started calling me ‘item seven’ and it was funny. We all just laughed. It was so funny.”

Nigerians have expressed anger that Toke Makinwa, IBD Dende, and Seyi Tinubu are listed as “item 7” on a list of 1,411 attendees for the COP28. The list released by the Federal Government has angered most Nigerians after sighting certain names on the tall lists of attendees that President Bola Tinubu sponsored for the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government is hosting COP28, also known as the 28th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC. It is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 12. Toke Makinwa recorded her attendance at COP28 and shared it on her verified Instagram profile today, December 2, 2023. She promised to provide updates to her fans and follow as the summit’s proceedings develop.

Opponents contend that these decisions damage Nigeria’s credibility when it comes to its participation in international gatherings. She took to her Twitter page to make the allegations after the muslims faithful dragged the singer for sharing his signee, Logos Olori’s controversial religious music video on his Twitter page.

The Nigerian lady identified as Bassey Annabel, who shared the video online disclosed that the weather in Dubai is very hot during the summer period hence one has to deploy a way to survive.
