Actor turned politician, Desmond Elliot has been re-elected as the lawmaker representing Surulere 1 constituency of Lagos state.
Elliot who was first elected as representative of the constituency in 2015, polled 17,837 votes to defeat his closest rival, Adebayo Bode of the Labour Party who polled 7,822 votes. Thompson Sulaimon Abolaji of the Peoples Democratic Party came third with 1,045 votes. Sharing a photo of the result sheet, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s media aide, Jubril Gawat insinuated that actor, Olumide Oworu’s name was used to rile up the mob for Labour Party votes in the area.
