Businessman purchases new car for INEC Returning Officer who pronounced Alex Otti governor-elect

An Abia State businessman who goes by the name, Steven Ukpabi has bought a new Toyota Prado car for Prof Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti, the INEC Returning Officer who pronounced the Labour Party candidate, Alex Otti the winner of the Abia State Governorship election.

The man took to his Facebook page to share a photo of the professor alongside the Prado car. According to him, the car is a gift for her exemplary service to the Abia residents. He added that the car has been shipped to Nigeria and is to be taken to Prof. Nnenna Oti. He wrote: “For your outstanding service to the people of Abia, I hereby request for this Prado to be delivered to Mrs Nnenna Nnennaya Oti immediately it arrives Nigeria next month. Thank you for your service in Abia.”

Peter Mbah, the PDP’s governorship candidate in Enugu, has been declared the winner of the 2023 Governorship polls in the state.

Mbah’s declaration as Governor by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, comes following days of controversy over the results from Nkanu East Local Government Area. According to the Returning Officer, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, the collation was taken over by the INEC national headquarters in Abuja after those of them in Enugu could not have a common ground. Peter Mbah Mbah polled 160,895 votes slightly above his closest rivals, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, who scored 157,552, and Uche Nnaji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 14,575 votes, amongst others.
