Sensational Afropop singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe shares the story behind her stage name, “Ayra Starr.” While speaking during a for the Christmas interview special on Arise TV the talented musician said that her label boss, Michael “Don Jazzy” Ajereh, helped come up with the moniker.

The “Sabi” vocalist stated that she came up with the word “Ayra,” which means “woke and open-minded,” and that Jazzy contributed the suffix “Starr.” Ayra Starr revealed that her stage name prior to signing with Mavin Records was “Oyin,” a nickname derived from her given name, Oyinkansola. She said; “There is this Yoruba name called Ira, I wanted people to pronounce it as ‘Aira.’ And I was like the only way the can pronounce it is by spelling it ‘A Y R A.’ So, I was thinking about it and something just told me to go ‘A Y R A.’ And went I did, everything just came together: The meaning of the name, it felt like God was speaking to me. And ‘Starr’ was Don Jazzy’s idea. Ayra means ‘woke and open minded.’ And that’s what I want. I want to be honoured and respected.”

Photo Credit: @johnnydrille: Instagram Johnny Drille revealed that he co-wrote ‘How Are You My Friend’ with Don Jazzy and that the song was the Mavin boss’ idea. “The inspiration behind ‘How Are You My Friend’ was Don Jazzy having just lost his mother like a couple of weeks prior,” he explained to Hip TV. “I guess the song was his own way of talking about it because a lot of people were reaching out to him who he hadn’t heard from in years.” So, it just kind of hit him that, ‘Omo, I actually have these many pals that I have not communicated with for so long.’ He said “I believe we are also living in perilous times. The economy is insane. Many folks are struggling. Many people are going through problems in their lives that they may not always feel comfortable disclosing. Nigerian food critic, Opeyemi Famakin has cried out after receiving death threats from Don Jazzy‘s fans over the review of Jazzy burger.

Opeyemi had done a review of Don Jazzy’s burger, 3 months ago when it was launched. He decided to do another review 3 months later, to cite improvements. However, there were a few lapses and disappointments, including the fact that he did not get a side of fries for a burger of N12K. In the process of the review, he called out Don Jazzy. This morning, Famakin took to Instagram with claims that Don Jazzy’s fans have been sending him death threats over the review. Rema expresses grief over the passing of Don Jazzy's mum

Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, is deeply saddened by the passing of Don Jazzy’s mother.
Don Jazzy, a music entrepreneur and founder of Marvin Records, had informed Nigerians a few hours ago that he has lost his lovely mother to cancer.

Reacting, his ex-signee, Rema regretted the news as he mourns with a note on his Instastory.
The singer wrote: “Mama I’ll miss you.”

Don Jazzy’s announcement of his mum’s passing reads: “I lost my sweet mother this morning. The matriarch of our family. My supporter and backbone @indianpicolo.
“I am beyond devastated. I have never felt pain like this in my life but I am consoled by the good life she lived. She was loved by everyone that ever met her. She was so strong till the last minute for us even while she battled with cancer.
“I have never typed a more difficult caption in my life. Please pray for our Mums soul to Rest In Peace and for strength for my dad, my siblings, her grandchildren and our entire family to bear this loss.”

Recall that controversial IG blogger, Gistlovers hinted at Michelle Jackson’s arrival in Nigeria to reunite with the music mogul.Don Jazzy Michelle LagosHowever, days later, Michelle is currently in Lagos and took to her Instagram page to share the scary encounter she witnessed between a policeman and a road user who almost ran over the security agent while refusing to stop.
According to her, the police officer in reaction to the aggressive move displayed by the road user pulled out his rifle as if he was about to shoot which made them take cover.

Michelle however didn’t make any statement about linking up with Don Jazzy.
