Lagos State Government has named a 22-man Committee, which will coordinate activities for the May 29 swearing-in of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat’s second term in office. The committee is headed by the Chief of Staff (COS) to the Governor, Mr Tayo Ayinde, while a former Commissioner for Education in Lagos, Mrs Saidat Olayinka Oladunjoye, is the Vice-Chairman. The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday. According to him, “Members of the various sub-committees that will organise the inauguration include the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS), Gboyega Soyannwo; Abayomi Oluyomi; Gbenga Omotoso; Engr. (Mrs.) Aramide Adeyoye; Olawale Musa; Sukanmi Oyegbola; Bayo Ogunlana and Dr. A. W. Olarinmoye. “Others on the list are: Kolade Alabi; Bolaji Durojaiye; Tunde Onigbanjo; Adetoun Sanwo-Olu; Tejumade Lawal; Belinda Aderonke Odeneye; Kunle Fagbemi; Fola Hamzat; Simi Mosuro; Dr. Hakeem Shittu and Mrs. Ayiri Oladunmoye.” Omotoso said the Committee, which had since started working, also had Mrs Adenike G. Akanbi as Secretary, with other members also including the Special Adviser on Education, Mr Tokunbo Wahab and Mr Bimbo Onabanjo.

A man has raised alarm about a HIV positive woman who has reportedly vowed to spread it among the people of Lagos. The Twitter user, Adeeyo, took to the micro blogging platform to make this known. According to Adeeyo, the said woman who’s a HIV carrier is a popular hooker on Lagos Island and isn’t a Nigerian. He wrote: “I knew someone that tested positive to HIV/AID. Passengers go into prayer as plane experiences turbulence on a flight from Uyo to Lagos (Video)
Passengers on a flight launched into an intense prayer session after their plane experienced turbulence. The plane had left Uyo and was bound for Lagos when it experience intense turbulence on air, causing passengers to call on their maker for help.
A video which surfaced on social media captures the passengers who were scared for their lives praying against any likely crash. Another segment of the clip showed the outside sky looking dark as though it were about to rain heavily. Fortunately, the unknown plane landed safely without any damage done to them or the plane. It took me months to master my role in ‘Gangs of Lagos’
Music artist, Omoniyi Raphael better known as Zlatan Ibile has disclosed that it took months to master his role in the movie “Gangs of Lagos“. The hip-hop artist Zlatan Ibile played the role of a notorious gangster in the crime thriller called Kash. He mentioned that his role was difficult to play. During a recent chat with media personality, Samuel Eni, Zlatan told the host that it took months for him to learn the karate moves for the movie. He also disclosed that he quit music temporarily to focus on mastering his role in the movie for Gang of Lagos, a movie that premiered on 7th April 2023. He said, “I have always wanted to act. I had a picture in my head. But I didn’t want it to be just any kind of movie. So, when I was called up that they wanted me to be in a movie by Amazon Prime, I said, ‘Yes, this is the actual one I want.’ “It took me months to go learn those Jet Li moves, Jackie Chan moves. It was stressful a little bit. I took out my time. I had to like pause recording music for a while. It took us like two months or so and then we rounded up [with the shooting of the movie]. The movie was shot in 2021.”
Lagos State takes delivery of electric buses, first in Nigeria
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that the Lagos government has received the first batch of electric buses for public transportation, making it the first state in Nigeria to do so. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the advantages of electric buses, such as their ability to decrease carbon emissions and increase efficiency, and stated that the people of Lagos can now benefit from cost-efficient transportation.
The governor attributed the success of the initiative to the state government’s collaboration with Oando Clean Energy Limited. Lagos State Government’s Statement on Electric Buses “With the ability to travel 280km at full charge, taking into account our unique travel times in Lagos, our electric buses are a game-changer. With an average daily usage of 200km by existing BRTs, there is no need to fear that the buses can stop while in transit”

Woman in tears as Lagos Govt demolishes her house, others
Woman breaks down in tears as the Lagos State Government demolishes her house alongside 12 others in the Ajao Estate area of the state. A video making the rounds on social media captured the moment houses worth millions of naira was brought down following the order of the government.
The state authorities have blamed the demolition, which commenced on Friday, on illegal occupation and construction in close proximity to the Murtala International Airport, Lagos. The General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Gbolahan Oki, provided several reasons for the demolition while addressing reporters. Oki stated that the buildings lacked the necessary approvals and were located in restricted areas around the airport, while some were situated near aviation fuel pipelines.
He further added that this situation could result in a potential disaster, such as a fire outbreak from the pipeline, which could lead to the loss of both lives and properties. “Popular Lagos Island pastor sleeps with his female members” — Nedu (Video)
The controversial radio presenter, Nedu Wazobia alleges that a certain famous pastor on Lagos Island sleeps with his female congregations. During a recent podcast show NaijaFm, the OAP stated that he came about the revelation after a friend of his made attempts to woo the ladies in the church.
According to Nedu, the pastor and his wife take turns preaching on the altar of the church and the same pastor sleeps around with his members. Without mentioning either the church’s name or the pastor, the radio presenter emphasized how famous the preacher is. One of the show guests caught the hint and corroborated Nedu’s claim while others were left in the dark. Meat seller slumps, dies on duty in Lagos
A male meat seller has slumped and died while attending to a customer on Branco Street, in the Mafoluku area of Lagos. According to Punch, the incident happened on Monday, 24th of April, 2023, when the deceased was attending to a customer in the community.
An eyewitness, identified as Tunde said the deceased had finished selling the meat and was waiting for payment when he suddenly slumped. He said: “The man is a regular meat hawker in this area and he was hawking along the street as usual when a woman called him to sell meat for her. When he got to the woman’s place, he brought down his meat and negotiation went on for a while. He later sold the meat to her when they both reached an agreement. It was at the point when the woman was about to pay him that he suddenly fell to the ground. That was how the woman quickly raised the alarm.” “Later, some people tried to resuscitate him but all to no avail. His body was lying on the floor for close to 30 minutes. It was later that some of the residents hired a commercial bus to convey his body to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead,” The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. “The man slumped and died. He probably had an underlining health issue. There was no foul play. The corpse has been deposited in the mortuary,” the PPRO said.
5-storey building collapses in Apapa Lagos
A 5-storey building under construction has reportedly collapsed in the Government Reservation Area of Apapa, Lagos. According to the report, some fire services operators, police operatives, and other emergency responders have mobilized to rescue people trapped under the debris. The collapse of the 5-storey building came after a seven-storey building collapsed in Banana Island, in the Ikoyi area of the state a few days ago. The cause of the rampant collapse of buildings in Nigeria has not been ascertained yet as more than five cases have already been reported across the state this year. The rescue operatives are yet to record and casualty from the collapse of the 5-storey building in Apapa.
Fire engulfs Queens college, Lagos State
On Sunday, a fire broke out at Queens College in Yaba, as reported by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
The Director of the service, Margaret Adeseye, stated that the incident occurred in a two-room quarter situated behind the school staff quarters. Nevertheless, Adeseye affirmed that there were no casualties, and the fire was swiftly extinguished by the state fire service. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Furthermore, the Lagos State Fire Service and Federal Fire Service collaborated to put out the fire. Additionally, the police prevented hoodlums from forcefully accessing the school premises, and no fatalities were recorded.
