Inter Milan CEO, Beppe Marotta has confirmed that Manchester United has approached the club to sign goalkeeper, Andre Onana. David de Gea’s contract at Old Trafford has now expired, making the Spaniard a free agent, although the Red Devils will continue to hold talks with him over a potential new deal.

Source: Getty Onana has reportedly been identified by Man United head coach Erik ten Hag as his leading goalkeeping target this summer, with the Cameroonian previously playing under the Dutchman at Ajax. Inter Milan CEO who spoke at the Gran Gala in Italy last night, said while Manchester United have expressed an interest in Andre Onana, he is yet to receive an offer. Marotta said; “Manchester United expressed a particular interest, but that needs to blossom into making a proposal over the next few days. Once that happens, both Inter and the player will make a careful evaluation.” United will soon have to make a decision on a bid for Onana but also have the matter of De Gea’s future to resolve.

Source: Getty De Gea had agreed to a contract extension which would have seen his wages drop almost half, down to £200,000 a week, but United later withdrew that offer and have attempted to convince the goalkeeper to accept an even-greater pay cut. That latest proposal remains unsigned and De Gea is now set to become a free agent, with his United contract expiring on Friday evening. Even if De Gea can be convinced to stay at Old Trafford, United could still pursue a move for Onana, with manager Erik ten Hag keep to find high-level competition in goal. 27-year-old Onana moved to San Siro from Ajax last July, and he impressed football lovers at Inter during the 2022-23 campaign, helping them to reach the Champions League final, in addition to lifting the Italian Super Cup and Coppa Italia title. Onana featured on 41 occasions for his Italian side during the recent season, keeping 19 clean sheets in the process.

Inter failed to sell him to PSG in the January transfer window and stripped him of the captaincy in February after he refused to renew his contract. The Slovak international is expected to complete a move to PSG soon and will team up with Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe in the heart of the club’s backline after spending six seasons with Inter Milan. Inter is reported to have already lined up possible replacements for Skriniar, with Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic among those to have been linked with a switch to San Siro.

He is now set to complete a free transfer, with Chelsea happy to cancel his contract a year early to allow him to leave for the 2023 Champions League runners-up. He also has a pretty spectacular trophy haul to his name, having won two Premier League titles, a Champions League, two Europa Leagues, a UEFA Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup. Chelsea and Inter have been locked in negotiations all summer over a range of issues. While the Blues have backed away from a deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana, talks remain ongoing over striker Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea are pushing for a permanent sale but Inter can only afford a loan and so work is being done to try and thrash out an agreement that benefits everyone. Azpilcueta won’t be the only player to leave Chelsea this summer, with stars such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Hakim Ziyech, and Mason Mount among the frontrunners to move on. N’Golo Kante has already finalized a move to the Middle East, joining Al-Ittihad on a free transfer. As for incomings, Chelsea confirmed the signing of Christopher Nkunku this week, having signed an agreement for the Frenchman before the end of the season. The club also remains in talks to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

He became the oldest goalscorer in the league’s history when he scored his only goal of the season by converting a penalty in a 3-1 loss at Udinese in March. That was the only match he started this season for the Serie A side. Ibrahimovic then picked up a calf injury in a pre-match warm-up in April and will leave AC Milan career sidelined due to the knock. His contract with Milan expires at the end of June and will not be renewed following a season plagued by injuries. Announcing his exit on Saturday, June 3, the club said; “Tomorrow (Sunday) evening after the final game of the season… AC Milan will say goodbye to Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a brief ceremony. AC Milan would like to thank Zlatan for the magnificent time that we have spent together.”

Source: Getty Manager Stefano Pioli said Ibrahimovic would not be available for Sunday’s match against Hellas Verona at the San Siro but the club said the Swede would be honoured after the game. Milan sits fourth in Serie A ahead of Sunday night’s match at the San Siro and are assured of Champions League football next season. They lost to Inter Milan in the Champions League semifinal last month. Italian media report that Ibrahimovic could join Monza next season, which would reunite him with former Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi and his right-hand man Adriano Galliani. Former Italian prime minister Berlusconi who sold Milan for 740 million euros in 2017 after three decades of glory, bought Monza for a relative pittance the following year. 
Lukaku was a popular figure with the Italian giants before he was lured back to Stamford Bridge for a second spell in the summer of 2021 in a blockbuster £97.5million move. But after struggling to live up to expectations, the 29-year-old was shipped back out to the Serie A outfit on loan before the start of the 2022/23 campaign. The Belgian footballer who has scored just five times in 17 appearances for Inter, has also been plagued by injuries this season. Although The Athletic reported that the Italian titans have not completely closed the door on keeping Lukaku beyond this season, it’s understood that the finances that would be involved in extending the agreement they have with Chelsea would make doing so difficult. 
Marotta has now confirmed that Lukaku will return to Chelsea this summer. He said; “The loan was for one season so on June 30 regardless of how well he plays, he’ll go back to Chelsea. This has been an unprecedented season. “I’m referring of course to the World Cup. The problems we’ve experienced have been experienced by other clubs too and the players who played at the World Cup. Lukaku is a case in point. [Marcelo] Brozovic isn’t the Brozovic we know. Lukaku hasn’t found the fitness he needs to play his best football. He’s still not at his best or the player we got to see in years gone by.” At Chelsea, Graham Potter is already dealing with an incredibly bloated squad, which he finally appears to be getting to click, while a summer clear-out is needed in order to recoup funds. Lukaku could well be a part of that. 
Earlier in the day, it was discovered that his name was omitted from Chelsea’s Champions League squad for their upcoming last-16 tie against Borussia Dortmund. Chelsea’s coach, Graham Potter added January signings Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Joao Felix to the team, while new arrivals Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, and Noni Madueke didn’t make the cut. 
While Aubameyang’s Chelsea teammates played against Fulham in a match that ended 0-0, he was spotted in Milan with his family, going by an image his brother posted to Instagram. It is also unlikely that the 33-year-old footballer will get back in the team for their next fixture against West Ham on February 11. Chelsea will return to European action on February 15 when they travel to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund. The London team finished top of Group E with 13 points, ahead of AC Milan, Red Bull Salzburg, and Dinamo Zagreb.
