Admission seeker devastated as Policemen allegedly forcefully collect N20k during travel

An admission seeker identified as Sodiq Oladebo has accused members of the Nigeria Police Force of extorting N20,000 from him and other passengers. The incident took place on Saturday when Oladebo and fellow travelers were en route from Osun to Benin, Edo State. According to Oladebo, their vehicle was stopped at a checkpoint, and police officers proceeded to search their bags. Despite finding nothing incriminating, the officers allegedly resorted to intimidation tactics, demanding a payment of N100,000 or threatening to take Oladebo to the police station. Distressed by the situation, Oladebo explained that the N99,000 he had in his Palm Pay application was meant to purchase an Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) form required for his university admission. Following a heated exchange with the police officers, a compromise was reached, and they settled for N20,000 from Oladebo. The amount was immediately transferred to a Point-of-Sale operator named Delight Enterprise, as corroborated by a screenshot of the receipt bearing the transaction time of 11:34 am on Saturday. Expressing his frustration, Oladebo revealed that the police officers responsible for the incident were four in number and were traveling in a black Hilux van. Regrettably, his money is still in their possession despite the transaction. In his words; We left Old Garage Park in Osun State, and were going to Benin, Edo State. Our vehicle was stopped by the policemen. They checked the passenger at the front and later asked me to come down from the vehicle to identify my luggage. “They searched and didn’t find anything incriminating. He took my phone from me, unlocked it but didn’t find anything incriminating on it. He returned my phone and said he would take me to the station except I pay N100,000. They had seen N99,000 in my Palm Pay application and my brother gave me the money to purchase the IJMB form.” “I transferred the money to a Point-of-Sale operator whom the officers called to the location and they allowed me to go. The policemen were four and in a black Hilux van. My money is still with them.

Herbalist confesses to buying two fresh legs for N20K

Ifasoji Ayangbesan, a 35-year-old herbalist presently in custody for allegedly killing and dismembering Oyindamola Adeyemi, a young lady, has made a confession that he purchased two human legs for the purpose of rituals for N20,000. The Ogun state police command reported Ayangbesan’s arrest last week, accusing him of offering N1 million bribe to police officials to avoid prosecution. During his presentation before the press on May 3, the herbalist refuted allegations that he was involved in the victim’s murder on January 28, 2023. He claimed to be an herbalist, not a ritualist. How I bought two human legs for N20K “I bought two fresh human legs, but I was not involved in the murder of the victim. I was approached by my friend, Lukman, who told me he had a pair of legs to sell. Though I told him I did not need them, he convinced me to use them for ritual to better my life, and I agreed. I, however, told him I did not know how to make money rituals as I was not taught that as a traditionalist. He then referred me to his friend from Oye, popularly known as Egbeji in Isiwo. After I was taught how to go about it, I burnt the legs and kept them in my house with plans to complete the ritual when I returned from Ajah because I had a job to do there. However, my daughter called me while I was at Ajah that the police had come to the house looking for me. So, I later sneaked in and took away the burnt legs so that I would not be caught with any evidence because I heard that Lukman had been arrested and he had mentioned my involvement in the case.” On the allegation of bribing police with N1M

“I did not offer the police any bribe. When I heard that the police were on the lookout for me, a lawyer told me to get N10 million to set myself free, but I told him I could not raise the money. However, I was able to raise N1 million. Unfortunately for me, the lawyer claimed that I had informed someone about him asking me for money. He then instructed me to place the money in front of him and he took a picture, and then I was arrested. I never offered police money.”
