Veteran Nigerian musician, Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy has expressed concern that the newly redesigned N1000, N500, and N200 naira notes are no longer in circulation.

It was disclosed that in March, the Supreme Court decided that the prior version of the Naira notes, as well as the new Naira notes, would remain legal currency until December 31, 2023. Emmanuel Agim, a member of the seven-judge panel, who presented the lead decision, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s order to redesign the new notes and withdraw the old ones without appropriate consultation was invalid. However, Charly Boy took to his Twitter page to share a message claiming that only the old notes are currently in circulation since the court’s decision.
