Veteran actress Patience Ozokwor has shot down the perception that one can only be famous when they reside in Lagos or Abuja. patience ozokwor Patience Ozokwor made these comments during the candle procession night in honour of the late Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Africa Movie Academy Awards, Madam Peace Anyiam-Osigwe. According to the veteran, most of her colleagues in the movie industry started their movie careers in Enugu State but have forgotten their roots after stardom. Patience emphasized that if a person is talented, their location does not matter because she believes people’s talent sells them out rather than changing their location. She said; But for me, I said I am going to stay in Enugu, inside the village and when I go to Lagos, I tell them I am a village woman. I stay at Ngwo in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State and God has shown me that you can become a star from anywhere. You don’t need to be in Lagos or Abuja, If you are good enough, they will call you even from America. Backing her point, Patience Ozokwor sited an example of the Member Federal Republic award and the Centenary Award she received. She disclosed that she was selected based on her talent and not her location. “I did not even know who put my name there, so you can be picked from anywhere. That is the statement I wanted to make in this industry but I am happy that I am saying it today.”

Veteran actress Patience Ozokwor has revealed why she did not remarry years after her first husband passed on.

Patience Ozokwor disclosed that she got married at age 19 however, she became a widow after she lost her husband following a protracted illness in 2002. Her late husband was a mechanical engineer before his demise. Speaking about why she did not remarry after the demise of her husband during a chat on Mercy Johnson’s kitchen show, Mercy’s menu, Patience Ozokwor disclosed that her children pleaded with her not to remarry. According to her, her children were all grown-ups and assured to be there for her and cater for her. She added that her children said their friends might mock them if she does, hence her decision to stay single after her husband’s death. “I wanted to remarry but my kids had already come of age and they pleaded with me not to marry another man and they promised they will be my husband. They asked me to stay single for them so their friends will not laugh at them that at their age their mum remarried and I understood them, though it was selfish of them I paid a huge sacrifice for them, no sacrifice is too huge for the family.”

Patience Ozokwor Patience Ozokwor was a guest on Season 3 Episode 9 of the Nollywood actress’ kitchen show, Mercy’s Menu. During the interview, she recounted the golden advice she shared with Mercy. In the video that has gone viral, the two actresses were seen having a good time while recounting some movie scenes as they prepared catfish pepper soup with unripe plantain. Patience Ozokwor remembered when she advised Mercy Johnson some years back over her indecent dressing while she was single. “Do you remember when you were younger before you got married when I told you that the photos u take today, your children will see them tomorrow and immediately the kind of lifestyle you lived”
