Former Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday, alleged that he was poisoned at the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2018 during his governorship campaign for a second tenure. According to the former governor, who disclosed this during a special Thanksgiving service organised by his family at the St. Peters Deanery, Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor area of the state, his liver and kidneys stopped working and it took the intervention of God and doctors to save his life. 
Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike Narrating how it all happened, the former governor said he was flown to Beirut at midnight, where doctors informed him that his liver and kidneys were gone and at that moment, everybody around him became a suspect. Wike said: “God was in charge, everybody who knew how we came to power in 2015, knew it was turbulent. “But God saw us through. When you are in office, many people think things are going well with you. Nobody wants to find out the problems you are facing as a human. “In December 2018, it was the day my former Chief of Staff was going to have Thanksgiving. I was to attend that Thanksgiving. From that Sunday on, I never came down from my room. It was bad. “But those who attended the January 1 state banquet of 2019 will know that I never spoke that day. I just sat down there and told the deputy governor to speak on my behalf. I thought it was over. “I didn’t know I had been poisoned at our party’s secretariat, the doctors, after some treatments, returned and told me my organs had started working again.”
Renowned actress, Ibironke Ojo-Anthony, also known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, discloses effort in place for her daughter to resume school after bieng poisoned. Some days ago, the mother of two had called out the school where she pays N1.3M yearly on her daughter over their negligence that almost got her daughter killed. During an interview with Saturday Beats, Ronke Oshodi-Oke stated that even though her daughter had resumed classes, she remained deeply troubled and concerned. Ronke Oshodi-Oke on daughter resuming school “I cannot be at peace letting her go back to the same school. I have called her more than five times today (Thursday). Whenever I call and she does not answer the phone, I would be worried. However, I know the people in the school would have seen the video I made. I will still go there on Monday to have a meeting with them. If they don’t tell me what I want or respond well, that is when I will mention the name of the school. We don’t know the people who actually did it, but according to them (the school), they are investigating the issue.” Whether her daughter getting poisoned had to do with her fame “This did not happen to me because I am a public figure. There have been similar cases of children even losing their lives in similar circumstances. “The devil is living in some people’s children. The children we are talking about here are between the ages of 16 and 20. I see them as children, and I wonder why such children could think of doing something so evil. When they become proper adults, what would they then do?” Tips to daughter to avoid getting poisoned again “I did not let her go back without strong warnings. I told her that whenever she wants to eat, she should be careful. I also told her that she should never leave her food or drink unattended to for whatever reason, even if she is going to the toilet.”
