Veteran Nigerian comedian Alibaba has revealed how his father disowned him for a decade since he chose comedy over becoming a lawyer. In the Christmas edition of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Alibaba talked about leaving university to tell his father about his plans to become a comedian, and how his father’s reaction caused him to flee. To prove his father wrong, he resolved to become a successful comic. Alibaba said;

I told him, I said, ‘Daddy, I came from school to tell you something.’ He said, ‘Okay, have you been rusticated?’ I said, ‘No. I’ve decided that I don’t want to read law. I want to do comedy.’ “He asked, ‘Comedy like what?’ I said, ‘Like cracking jokes.’ He laughed and asked my younger brother to call my uncle who lived close by. When my uncle came, he asked what the matter was and I said I didn’t want to read law again and that I wanted to do comedy. He said that means I’ve found another father, stressing that I can’t be part of the family and won’t read law. He said all the money my dad spent on me was wasted. He told my dad to handle the situation and left. “I knew I couldn’t sleep in that house because my dad would beat me. So as my uncle was going out, I followed him to lock the burglary and I didn’t go back in. And my dad and I didn’t talk from 1988 – 1998. Ten years. I tried to reach out to him. I went one time to talk to him but he didn’t want to see me. “This was the thing. So people ask, ‘Where did you get the inspiration to become a great comedian?’ I was committed. I was like I want to prove him [my Dad] wrong.”

Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike Narrating how it all happened, the former governor said he was flown to Beirut at midnight, where doctors informed him that his liver and kidneys were gone and at that moment, everybody around him became a suspect. I just sat down there and told the deputy governor to speak on my behalf. I thought it was over. “I didn’t know I had been poisoned at our party’s secretariat, the doctors, after some treatments, returned and told me my organs had started working again.” 
When asked about her personal life and the possibility of double dating, Mummy Wa, who was previously in a relationship with her colleague Isbae U but experienced a breakup allegedly due to physical abuse, expressed her perspective. She said, “If it’s a friendship, it’s possible. But when it comes to romantic relationships, I don’t think it’s feasible. There will always be one person who is loved more than the other. “Personally, I cannot romantically love two people simultaneously. My mind will always be focused on one person, making it difficult for me to think about someone else.” Furthermore, the skit-maker shared her thoughts on the topic of men paying for transportation expenses on dates. She stated, “I don’t believe men should pay for a date’s transportation fare. It doesn’t make sense to me. However, there are some men who may not want the lady to experience any inconvenience. “They might choose to pay as an act of chivalry or if they believe the lady doesn’t have enough money and they want to assist. If the lady is stranded, the guy can offer to cover her transportation fare. Personally, though, I wouldn’t allow a guy to pay for my transport fare on a date.”
