Recently, Nigerians have been making concerted efforts to break various Guinness World Records in different categories. It all began when a Nigerian chef named Hilda Baci shattered the record for the longest cooking hours by an individual.

Since then, there have been rumors circulating about Nigerians attempting to break records for the longest kissing hour, the longest movie-watching hour, the longest singing hour, the longest dancing hour, and a few other intriguing feats. Amidst this flurry of record-breaking attempts, a Nigerian news platform Pulsenigeria247 shared a post revealing the response from Guinness World Records to an individual in Nigeria who planned to break the records for “idea-a-thon” and “puff-a-thon.” Guinness World Records took to the comment page to issue a warning, stating, “Please, enough with the record-a-thons.” Upon reading this response from Guinness World Records, concerned Nigerians promptly flocked to the comment section to voice their opinions. Chef Dammy, a Nigerian chef, was captured in a video fetching water from a well shortly after her recent attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking session. Damilola Adeparusi, also known as Chef Dammy, gained fame when it was reported that she had cooked for approximately 120 hours.

Undeterred by falling short of the record, Dammy has announced her plans to strive for a cooking marathon lasting 150 hours. This determination comes in the wake of Hilda Baci being recognized by Guinness World Records as the new record holder for the longest cooking session. According to GWR’s estimation, Baci cooked for approximately 93 hours and 11 minutes. In a recent interview with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Chef Dammy admitted that her previous 120-hour cook-a-thon was not officially registered with Guinness World Records (GWR). However, she expressed her readiness to apply for the prestigious recognition and revealed her intention to cook for 150 hours in the upcoming challenge, scheduled for next month. Following the interview, a video surfaced showing the young chef fetching water from a well unaccompanied by her bodyguards. The Ekiti State government has kicked against the planned 72-hour-kissing marathon in the state in an attempt to set Guinness World Record. The governor, Biodun Oyebanji, was in shock on Wednesday when a group identified as Sugartee released an advert stating its intent to embark on the longest world kissing marathon in a popular amusement park in the state capital on July 7.

Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji Reacting to the development, the state Ministry of Arts and Culture in a statement released today July 5, banned the scheduled competition of the marathon and warned all Hoteliers in the state not to allow their premises to be used for such exercise. The state government warned that heavy sanctions will be placed on any hotel found to permit such an exercise in their facility. The letter signed by the Director of Tourism Adebanji Adelusi on behalf of the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dele Ogunsemoyin noted that the planned event tagged ‘Kiss-a-thon ‘ was capable of denigrating the image of the state. The letter read, ‘’Kiss-a-thon” as an event is not only absurd, unhealthy, immoral and capable of denigrating the image of the state, it is a programme that runs counter to the values of the people of the state and therefore capable of plunging our Youths morally backwards. “In view of the foregoing, the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism hereby prohibits the hosting of such event or any other events like it in any facility that wishes to continue to operate lawfully in Ekiti State. “To the above, you are hereby requested to convey the content of this Notice to the members of Ekiti State Hoteliers’ Association to effectively monitor their outlets against being used negatively to cause embarrassment to the Government and People of Ekiti State.”the statement read
