Falana speaks on son Falz 'embarrassing the government'

During the 2nd anniversary of the Oluyinka Odumakin Lecture in Lagos on Sunday, Falana stated that his son, Folarin Falana, a.k.a Falz, brings shame to the government due to his experiences growing up. As a legal practitioner, Falana stated that he was arrested frequently, which caused his son to question whether his father was a criminal.

falz

His remarks came shortly after the release of a new song by Falz and Vector, titled “Yakubu.” Falana’s Statement on Falz Embarrassing the Government “One of these guys one day said, ‘Falana talk to your son; he should stop embarrassing the government’. I said which government? You mean that boy who is an adult? Can I give you his number so you can talk to him? But be careful because when that boy was growing up, I was being arrested from time to time. So, the only language he understood was detention, arrest and the rest of them. “One day, when that boy was six, he asked his mother, “Our teacher taught us that only criminals were arrested. Is my father a criminal? Why is he always being arrested? And the mother had to say that in Nigeria, under the military, only two sets of people were arrested: Criminals suspects and political suspects. Political suspects are those who are out to expose the criminality of the government. That is what you see going on.”

“I had to focus on me” — Bovi speaks on relationship with Basketmouth (Video)

bovi

Famous standup comedian and actor, Bovi Ugboma, addresses why he and his fellow colleague, Bright Okpocha a.k.a Basketmouth no longer have a close relationship.

bovi

During a recent interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo, Bovi explained that he chose to prioritize himself and his brand, which led to a distance in his relationship with Basketmouth. He emphasized that there are limits to how far their association could take him. Bovi also noted that their previous closeness was merely a phase that has passed. Bovi on his relationship with Basketmouth “You know but there was this friendship, this symbiotic friendship but he was more visible because he’s a brand, you put Basketmouth’s name on anything and it’s going. "I had to focus on me" — Bovi speaks on relationship with Basketmouth (Video) So I think, over the years, my mission was to become a brand as well, a big one and there’s a stage where brands grow to and the room becomes too small, you’ll have to basically find your way, that now allows room for more people to come on board. “I decided, you know what, it’s time to grow your brand and focus on you now. So I’ll take responsibility for my own decision. We are human beings, there will always be skirmishes, I mean, it’s also part of pop culture. We were young and restless and stuff like that. So I just realize that like I said earlier, the biggest service you can do for yourself is to push yourself. If you wait for somebody to say, ‘come let me take you’, you might wait forever. I’m not saying that doesn’t happen but there’s also a limit to how far certain people can take you. You have to get up and move to break new grounds.” He, however, affirmed that they are in good terms even though the ‘phase’ they once had isn’t the same now that they both have kids and bigger responsibilities. “I take responsibility” – Potter speaks on Chelsea’s defeat to Aston Villa

"I take responsibility" - Potter speaks on Chelsea's defeat to Aston Villa

Chelsea’s manager, Graham Potter has said that he’s taking the blame for his side’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, April 1.

I take responsibility - Graham speaks on Chelsea's defeat to Aston Villa

Ollie Watkins gave Villa the lead in the first half before captain John McGinn’s long-range effort in the second period doubled the advantage for the away side. The result has piled pressure on Potter, with Chelsea now 11th in the table.  Speaking after the match, Potter told BBC Sport:  “In both boxes we were second best. The first goal for them is disappointing from our perspective. “There were a lot of good things in the game, a lot of attacking entries and shots. If you look at the stats of the game it was a positive performance, but in terms of the scoreline it’s not. We’re all really disappointed. “The most important number is the one that goes against us. We have to do better. In terms of the game, you can see the players gave everything, they took on the responsibility, they tried, they had lots of entries into the box and shots and attacks. I take responsibility - Graham speaks on Chelsea's defeat to Aston Villa “Ultimately we conceded a poor first goal which makes everything very emotional and rightly so. We’re disappointed because we’re 1-0 down but the players responded well they kept on responding throughout. The second goal is disappointing because we started the second half well. “But if you look at the stats apart from the main one there is a lot of positives there. But at the moment into doesn’t feel too positive. “Defensively we’ve left ourselves too open but again if you look at the stats of the game we had chances ourselves, we had one-v-ones, but the most important thing, putting the ball into the net, we were second-best. “I don’t like to blame anybody, I have to take responsibility. We are a team, we have to stay together, we are together. We win or lose together.” Chelsea will be facing a crucial home game against Liverpool on Tuesday, April 4, with the Champions League quarter-final later this month potentially a make-or-break tie for Potter.
