Two Nigerian women arrested in India with drugs worth over N63 million

Two Nigerian women, Adaeze Jaye, 43, and Success Chamika, 23, were arrested by Pushkar police in the state of Rajasthan, India, on Friday, October 27, 2023, in possession of drugs. The duo was found in possession of drugs valued at over N63 million. The arrests followed a careful operation by law enforcement authorities, who seized a total of 65 grams of Mephedrone (MD), a potent synthetic drug, along with a substantial amount of cash, totaling Rs 65,000.

Additionally, a digital weighing machine was confiscated from the accused, suggesting their involvement in drug distribution. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is approximately Rs 6 lakh, according to the police. This significant quantity of Mephedrone, also known as MD or “Meow Meow,” is known for its stimulant and psychoactive properties and is considered a controlled substance in many countries, including India. Pushkar police station in-charge, Rakesh Yadav, confirmed that a case has been registered against both Adaeze Jaye and Success Chamika under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
