Yul Edochie, a controversial actor in the Nigerian film industry, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Kanu has been in custody since his arrest and extradition to Nigeria from Kenya two years ago.

Despite court orders for Kanu’s release, the Nigerian government has refused to set him free. Taking to his Twitter handle on Tuesday morning, Edochie made a plea to Tinubu, whom he described as a man who has fought for democracy for three decades, to secure Kanu’s release from the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS). “To our Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT GCFR. A humble request from your son, Yul Edochie.” Yul Edochie tweeted.
