The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a horrifying crime involving the ritual killing of 18-year-old boy, Quadri Salami, a 100-level student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State. The young man’s remains were discovered buried in a shallow grave at Mile 6 Ajebo area of Abeokuta, the state capital. The disturbing incident came to light after the father of the deceased reported his son missing at the Kemta Police Station on November 8.

Despite relentless efforts to locate Quadri, all attempts proved futile. The investigation took a dark turn when a tracking clue led the police to one of the suspects, Akeem Usman, who was arrested in possession of the victim’s phone. According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the suspect, Akeem Usman, implicated another individual named Ifadowo Niyi. Both suspects reportedly confessed to the heinous crime, revealing that they slaughtered Quadri and dismembered his body for ritual purposes. Ifadowo Niyi allegedly took away the victim’s head and two wrists, paying a sum of one hundred thousand Naira into Akeem Usman’s account as proceeds from the sale of the human body parts. “The suspects thereafter continued to sell the victim’s other body parts on demand to Internet fraudsters and buried the heart, two legs, and flesh inside a plastic rubber for rituals and used the remaining parts for ‘Awure'(luck charm) a crime against humanity. Among their confessional statement, the duo admitted that they have used four other human heads for money rituals known as “Osole” the statement read. The police have the suspects, Akeem Usman and Ifadowo Niyi, in custody at Eleweran, SCID, where discreet investigations are ongoing. Following the completion of investigations, the suspects will be arraigned in court to face the consequences of their horrifying actions.

During a lecture in class, Aminat Tajudeen, a 100-level student at Kwara State College of Education Ilorin, collapsed and passed away. According to reports, the incident took place on Wednesday at approximately 1:30 pm. Aminat had previously received her matriculation gown for the ceremony planned for the following day (13th April) and returned to class before the unfortunate event occurred. A member of the school’s senior staff, who preferred to remain anonymous due to lack of authorization to discuss the matter, revealed that Aminat was immediately rushed to the school clinic but later passed away. She was later taken to the Muslim cemetery, Osere, for her Janazah and burial. Speaking at her burial, the deceased father was quoted to have said that “she showed no sign or symptom of any sickness. We had quite a lengthy discussion on several issues before I escorted her to get a cab to the school.” The college Public Relations Officer, Mrs Abibat Zubair who confirmed the incident, told PUNCH Metro that she was a student of Music/Yoruba, adding that she was mourned by the college and students during the matriculation ceremony. “The Provost visited the parents yesterday to sympathise with them and also mourned her today during the matriculation ceremony together with the students,” the PRO said.
