Nigerians have gathered to cheer the viral Ogbomosho chef, Tope Maggie, as he cooks towards setting a Guinness World Record for 200-hour cook-a-thon to break the Irish chef’s record. It would be recalled that the former record set by the Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci had been broken by an Irish chef who cooked for 119 hours.

A video which surfaced online shows the crowd of supporters who came to give him encouragement. They could be heard cheering him and chanting his name. It is the season of breaking records for Nigerians as a man begins a 200-hour sing-a-thon (8 days) to set a Guinness World Record. The man is set to sing for 200 hours nonstop while in full view of the world as the clock ticks away to mark his time.

As at the time of reporting, the clock shows that the man has sang for two days and 20 hours and still has approximately 7 days to complete his challenge. Videos of a Nigerian chef embarking on a 200-hour cook-a-thon to break the world record for the longest cooking time have sparked reactions online. The current titleholder for the longest cooking time is Chef Lata Tondon from India, who cooked continuously for over 86 hours. However, a few weeks ago, a Nigerian chef named Hilda Baci surpassed this record by cooking for 100 hours.
