Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper Sergio Rico has come out of a coma three weeks after his horse riding accident. The accident occurred while the 29-year-old footballer was participating in an annual pilgrimage in the El Rocio region of Huelva in Spain in May. Sergio Rico was taken off of sedation a fortnight ago, only to be put back into a coma a few hours later. The goalkeeper’s wife, Alba Silva, who gave an update on his health while speaking to the Spanish outlet, Telecinco, said her husband has regained consciousness and is on the mend. She said; “We can finally see the end of the tunnel. We’re going there step by step. I knew from the beginning that he would get through it because he’s a champion.” The hospital where he is being treated, the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Sevilla, said updates would only be provided in major developments upon demand of the player’s family.

He was then loaned to PSG for the 2019/20 campaign, before joining them permanently the following season. For the 2021/22 season he was loaned to Mallorca and played for PSG 14 times in the most recent campaign. PSG players paid tribute to Rico during their final game of the season as they all wore shirts with his name on the back. Kylian Mbappe also celebrated a goal by holding up a shirt with Rico’s name and the number 16 on it. Sevilla also paid a touching tribute to the former player ahead of the Europa League final against Roma.

A former boxer identified as Moses Olapade has been arrested by the Ondo Police for punching his wife to a coma over television remote. The incident reportedly happened in Ondo; at their residence at No. 9 Odama Street in the Oke-Aro community of Akure.

According to the police report, the wife of the ex-boxer refused to give him the television remote to change the channel. The ex-boxer, who is now a truck driver reportedly returned home from a journey on the fateful day and wanted to watch a programme on the television. He demanded the television remote from his wife but she refused. Out of anger, the former boxer landed punches on her face until she became unconscious. The neighbours in the vicinity reportedly intervened after the children of the couple called for help. The matter was reported to leaders of the community, who then called the police, and Olapade was subsequently arrested.

A man identified as Mohammed Zakari suffered a fatal accident while on his way to his wedding on Sunday, March 13.

The tragic incident occurred at Fumesua, Ghana on the Kumasi-Accra highway around 1:00 pm.
The Police while speaking on the accident revealed that a Ford Escape vehicle with registration number AS 3222-21 being driven by the groom and occupied by four of his friends lost control and ran into a ditch.
Unfortunately, the 40-year-old groom died on the spot while four other occupants were rushed to KNUST Hospital for medical care.

One of the victims who sustained severe injury has since been transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for better treatment.
The bride who couldn’t bear the pain was said to have suffered a traumatic shock after she heard the sad news and she is currently unconscious. The deceased has been buried, according to Islamic rites.
