Guinness World Records has finally broken silence regarding Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi‘s 120-hour cook-a-thon. The body maintained that the chef did not seek from approval before beginning the cook-a-thon as there are procedures and rules which would have been sent to her to follow.

Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review. “Once an application is accepted, the record claimant receives a set of detailed guidelines specific to that record category that must be adhered to. “This also details a list of evidence that must be submitted for our team to verify the record. Guinness World Records maintains a rigorous review process to maintain the integrity of each Guinness World Records title.” Remember, Chef Dammy began her cook-a-thon in Ekiti state with the intention of overtaking Hilda Baci’s 100-hour cooking record. While Hilda Baci’s record was certified by GWR yesterday, Dammy on the other hand got a negative feedback as the body denied being aware of her mission.

Popular reality star, Queen Mercy Atang expresses disagreement over budding chef Dammy starting a Cook-a-Thon when Hilda Baci’s achievement hasn’t been recognized. Some couple of days, the unknown Ekiti chef had quickly garnered public interest after she undertook the daring challenge of cooking for 120 hours – an attempt to surpass the 100 hours that had, in less than a month, been set by another Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci.

According to her, she admires chef Dammy’s passion but doesn’t agree with her action, which she has described as untimely. She wrote: “While I appreciate Dami’s passion, I must express my disagreement with her actions. Hilda Bacci patiently waited for five years after Lata Tondon set the record for the longest cooking time. Unfortunately, the Guinness World Records (GWR) has not yet recognized Hilda’s achievement by awarding her the certificate she deserves. This situation feels like depriving someone of their long-awaited dream and goal. It’s unlikely that anyone else would have considered attempting this feat if Hilda hadn’t done it. While competition can be beneficial, it should always be healthy and fair… #my 2cents”

A video captures the moment Ekiti chef Damilola Adeparusi opened the unexpected box she received during her cook-a-thon. The carton contained a box of fish from an unidentified fan who thought it wise to show love to the chef. With a huge smile on her face, Damilola opened the box and exposed the content of the box for her fans to see. This is coming shortly after a Nigerian businessman has promised to give N1 million cash to Chef Dammy if she immediately calls off her ongoing cookathon. He made this promise following the heavy backlash that the chef has been facing since she started cooking in Oye, Ekiti state. According to the businessman, he has no problem with Chef Dammy’s decision to cook for 120 hours, but he only believes it is too early since Hilda Baci has just finished hers. He added that it would have been better for Chef Dammy to wait for Hilda to get her record certified by the Guinness World Records before kick-starting hers. @ayotomiwa407 reacted: “If I go there na husband I wan go find. Since I missed opportunity at Hilda’s own I must see husband for her own side.” @alexchike173 added: “As Guinness no wan give Hilda the award make she do her own na. You guys should stop the hating.
