Noni Madueke rescued a 2-1 victory for Chelsea over Crystal Palace with a late penalty, after several missed opportunities by the Blues. Chelsea initially took the lead through Mykhailo Mudryk’s tap-in, but Palace quickly responded with a goal from Michael Olise. The turning point came when Madueke, who came on as a substitute, won and converted a penalty in the 90th minute, securing three crucial points for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. While Chelsea celebrated the win, forward Nicolas Jackson had a mixed performance, missing several opportunities that could have secured the game earlier.

Despite having only the goalkeeper to beat, Jackson’s attempt went wide, drawing jeers from the away fans at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United on Saturday, January 14, staged a stunning late turnaround after coming from behind to beat Manchester City in a dramatic Premier League derby at Old Trafford. 
Jack Grealish had put City ahead after coming off the bench but late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford grabbed the win for United. Erik ten Hag’s side drew level in contentious fashion with 12 minutes left as Bruno Fernandes scored despite the presence of Marcus Rashford in an offside position. City’s protest that he had interfered with the play was ignored despite the flag going up. Rashford was the central figure again four minutes later when he swept in substitute Alejandro Garnacho’s cross to move United ahead in the scoreline. 
This is coming four months after the Red Devils were chastened and bruised following a 6-3 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad stadium. Manchester United has now won nine-straight games in all competitions and five straight in the Premier League. They now have 38 points and are just one point behind second-place Manchester City who are 5 points behind league leaders, Arsenal. 
Manchester United star, Bruno Fernandes has said that he and his teammates are not afraid to take on Manchester City today, January 14, even though they are one of the best teams in the world. While Manchester United are just four points behind Manchester City on the Premier League table, Fernandes stated that they believe in themselves and are not afraid of anyone. He said; “Man City are one of the best clubs in the league, but it is about believing in ourselves,” said Fernandes. “Now probably you can see a team that has a way to play that convinces the fans and the players it is the right one that can win games. “You go into every game and the feeling you have now is that we are not afraid to play against anyone. In the past you couldn’t see that. When the toughest games were coming, there was a little bit of ‘can we do it or not?’. 
“But now if you look at the fans, the players, everyone, you feel that we can play face-to-face with everyone at this moment. We know what this game means for everyone in the city, in the club, for the fans, for ourselves. It’s been a good moment for us.” Manchester United has lost more Premier League home games against City than they have against any other opponent. In their last match at the Etihad in October 2022, they were defeated 6-3 by Manchester City. This might be an opportunity to rewrite their history. 
Ahead of Manchester City’s derby clash with Manchester United this weekend, the club’s coach Pep Guardiola has revealed that he’s been pondering on some “ridiculous ideas”. 
Guardiola who admitted that he’s yet to review United’s recent games in order to come up with a firm game plan, might swing towards laying out a selection shock for the match at Old Trafford so that his players remain fresh. Addressing reporters, the Manchester City coach said; 
“I have a few ideas, thoughts – ridiculous ones against United – but still I didn’t watch their last games. “I have to see the way they play at home and if they change something. I still have to review it; that is why I don’t have a clear lineup [yet] against United.”
