A young man has gotten tongues wagging online after he went beyond usual ways to propose to his girlfriend.  A video making rounds on the Internet saw a young lady who walked into a house to see her boyfriend being assaulted by a group of people.

According to the lady, she received a call from an unknown number who informed her that her boyfriend was being assaulted by some armed men in his house, hence her rush to the house. The lady was seen in the video being held by some young ladies while she cried over the fake assault on her boyfriend. However, as the drama was intensifying, the young man went on his knees to propose to his girlfriend with a ring and she said “yes”. An Ondo-based pastor, Pastor Paul Oyewole has been fished out after faking his death to avoid paying a loan of N3 million from a congregant.

According to reports, the man of God, Pastor Oyewole tried to escape from repaying N3 million borrowed from a member of his congregation. He reportedly circulated his own obituary on a social media platform after he sent a fake bank alert to his creditor, Boyede Emmanuel. The pastor has been charged with acquiring money falsely while promising to repay it within seven days. He was also charged with publishing false news of his death to avoid paying for his debt. The pastor is also reported to have threatened the complainant over the phone with the purpose to intimidate him and also stripping him nude in front of the complainant’s residence.

A Jos-based pastor, Albarka Bitrus Sukunya has been arrested by the State Police Command of Plateau for faking his own kidnap.

According to reports, Albarka Sukunya was arrested together with his accomplices following reports that church members paid an amount of N600,000 ransom for his release. The command spokesman, Alabo Alfred, in a statement on Wednesday said; “The Plateau State Police Command has again uncovered the nefarious act of one pastor Albarka Bitrus Sukuya ‘m’ of Jenta Apata, Jos who on several occasions staged his kidnap with his cohorts and receive ransom from sympathizing members of his congregation. “Sequel to his spurious kidnaps of 14/11/2022 and 30/11/2022 where the sum of Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N400,000) and Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) was respectively paid by his sympathizers as ransom for his release, the incidents triggered suspicion. “Through credible intelligence, the clergyman was invited by the DPO Nassarawa Gwong Police Station, CSP Musa Hassan, and investigation commenced immediately. “In the course of the investigation, it was established that the suspect has been conspiring with his gang to stage his kidnap and fraudulently collect ransom. “On interrogation, the suspect confessed to having committed the crime and mentioned the following persons as his accomplices : (1) Baruk Mailale, (2) Nathaniel Bitrus both males of Yelwan Zangam village of Jos-north and (3) Aye (surname yet to be known) ‘male of Jalingo, Taraba State. “The suspect further disclosed that on 04/01/2023, he set ablaze two motor vehicles ( a Mercedes Benz and a Toyota) and a bicycle parked at ECWA Bishara 3 Jenta Apata premises belonging to his colleagues who he alleged one of them hates him, referring to his senior pastor. “However, police operatives of Nassarawa Gwong Division, Jos-north LGA arrested two (2) of the suspects namely, Baruk Mailale and Nathaniel Bitrus while effort is been intensified to arrest Aye, the third suspect.”
