Why movies can never be shot in my house — Joke Silva

Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva gives clarification on why she does not see movies shooting happen in her house at any point in time. She made this known during a youth development forum ‘The Roundtable Lekki’. According to the thespian, shooting movies involve a large number of people; one which she wouldn’t; want in her space. Joke Silva emphasized the significance of having studios and sound stages in Nollywood, which would provide suitable environments for filming movies. Joke Silva on why movies can’t be shot in her house “We shoot in apartments these days. But, I won’t allow movies to be shot in my home; it won’t happen. “I know the number of people that are brought into a shoot. There may be two people in a scene, but to shoot it, there will probably be about 20 people there. That means 20 people will put their hands on my wall, block the loo, and do other things. “We need to build our studios and sound stages, just like American filmmaker, Tyler Perry, has done. He built one of the biggest sound stages in the world. The thing with sound stages is that there are usually facades. I once shot a movie in France, but all the interior shots were taken in London, United Kingdom. All we did in France were the exteriors shots to give the ambience of that country. Sound stages give one control. It allows one to make movies at one’s desired pace.” Effect of streaming platforms on Nollywood “Streaming platforms have made it easier for producers to be able to exhibit their works. Technology has done that for us. There is a wide range of opportunities right now when it comes to movie distributions. Streaming platforms help us connect to a global audience.”

Why it is better to rent than buy a house in another man’s land – Speed Darlington

Nigerian rapper, Speed Darlington who is known for his controversial views opines that it is more advisable to rent than to acquire a house in a location that is not one’s homeland. According to him, owning a house in a different state or region would limit a person’s ability to relocate quickly in case of unforeseen circumstances. He suggested that renting a home as a non-native resident would be a more appropriate option than buying land. In a video posted on his TikTok page, Speed Darlington argued that owning a house in a foreign location would impede one’s freedom. Speed Darlington on why renting a house is better than buying “It’s better to rent than to buy houses, especially in another man’s land. “If you buy a house, over time it [the place] gets crowded. [And] maybe you decide, I don’t like here anymore, e don cast; everybody know where I live now, I want to move to other part of the state or other part of the country. “You can’t just pack your things and go. First, you need to sell that house. Only God knows when you are going to sell because not everybody has money to buy a house. “So, now you are stuck at this address, and you can’t leave. Freedom is an asset. “Freedom, the ability to pack up and disappear anytime. But if you rent, you can pack up and leave anytime.”

Prominent Nollywood actress, Doris Ogala is overwhelmed with uncontrollable joy as she acquires a new house. While giving gratitude to God, the actress took to social media to alert her fans and followers of her latest acquisition. Lady calls off 10-years relationship over ‘small house’ built by fiance

A young man is left devastated as his fiancée broke off their engagement a week before their wedding because he built a small house for them to live in. Despite having been in a relationship for ten years, the lady refused to accept the house that her fiancé had brought her to, claiming that it was too small. She demanded a larger one and even threatened to cancel the wedding if her demands were not met. A Nigerian man identified as JIKAN_BABA took to Twitter to narrate the ordeal. Popular singer, Chukwuka Ekweani better known as CKay moves into a luxury house as he reflects on his past. The “Love Nwantiti” hit maker took to his Instagram page to disseminate the news with his fans.

A man reportedly suffered a severe heart attack while at the home of his side chick and was rushed to the hospital where his wife works. The account was shared by an American woman known simply as Linda.

According to Linda, her husband had suffered the attack after he had acid reflux and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. She revealed that she had come across his name when it popped up and she read his report. However, two days later after discharge, he went home and lied to his wife that he had been attacked by some robbers. Linda’s narration read: “My husband almost died inside his side chick’s house in Maryland. He had acid reflux, and he was rushed to the hospital. He came home after 2 days to lie to me that robbers attacked him. He didn’t know they took him to the hospital where I work. His name popped up, and I read the report attached to his case file. The idiot put his side chick as his wife and emergency contact. When I got home, I asked him if the robber had given him acid reflux. He almost entered the ground.”

Woman in tears as Lagos Govt demolishes her house, others

Woman breaks down in tears as the Lagos State Government demolishes her house alongside 12 others in the Ajao Estate area of the state. A video making the rounds on social media captured the moment houses worth millions of naira was brought down following the order of the government.

The state authorities have blamed the demolition, which commenced on Friday, on illegal occupation and construction in close proximity to the Murtala International Airport, Lagos. The General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Gbolahan Oki, provided several reasons for the demolition while addressing reporters. Oki stated that the buildings lacked the necessary approvals and were located in restricted areas around the airport, while some were situated near aviation fuel pipelines.

He further added that this situation could result in a potential disaster, such as a fire outbreak from the pipeline, which could lead to the loss of both lives and properties. The builders were said to have failed to possess the required documents and approvals for constructing in that particular area. Watch the video below …

House of Rep member-elect, Ismail Maihanci passes away few weeks to his swearing-in

According to reports, Ismail Maihanci, a Nigerian politician and the House of Representatives member-elect for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in Taraba State, has passed away.

He was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and died in the early hours of Saturday. The funeral will take place later in the day in accordance with Islamic customs. Maihanci who was born on October 22, 1986, worked as a businessman and a Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku. He was also previously the Secretary of the PDP in Taraba State. Sharing the news, Bashir Ahmed tweeted:
