Rep Muktar Shagaya representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency of Kwara state has assured his people that he will not feast on the people’s resources but would rather strive to make a difference as a member of the 10th House of Representatives that will outlive his tenure. The newly sworn-in 33-year-old member said this in Abuja at the inauguration dinner in his honour.

Former Nigerian Senator, Annie Okonkwo, who represented Anambra Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has died at the age of 63. Annie died on Wednesday after celebrating his 63rd birthday in a sick bed. Annie Okonkwo was a member of the Sixth National Assembly from 2007-2011. The death of Okonkwo, a great businessman, has thrown the people of his Community, Ojoto, in Idemili South Local Government Area, into mourning. Tony Uche, a politician and Community leader at Ojoto, told NAN that the death of Okonkwo was a huge shock to the people of Ojoto and the entire Idemili Area. Uche described the deceased as a worthy son and philanthropist of repute who touched many lives while he lived. According to him, “Yes it is true, Ojoto is in deep mourning. The death is a huge shock like a thunderbolt to the town. “It’s most tragic and unfortunate. We have lost a great Iroko and Ojoto is grieving. We are in rude shock. We wish it was not true because Agunechemba, as we call him, was recently in Ojoto where he participated actively in his son’s campaigns. During and after the elections, he socialised freely and attended many functions,” he said. According to reports, Ismail Maihanci, a Nigerian politician and the House of Representatives member-elect for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in Taraba State, has passed away.

He was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and died in the early hours of Saturday. The funeral will take place later in the day in accordance with Islamic customs. Maihanci who was born on October 22, 1986, worked as a businessman and a Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku. He was also previously the Secretary of the PDP in Taraba State. Sharing the news, Bashir Ahmed tweeted:

A viral video of the Labour Party candidate at his fish farm has got social media users talking. Ben was spotted in shorts and a tank top barefooted in his fish pond, getting his hands dirty. He was busy scooping catfish from the pond, into an empty bowl. While being recorded, he stated that winning a seat in the House of Representatives does not mean he would not work. Sadiq Ango, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerges winner of the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency of Kaduna state with 33,616 votes.  Sadiq Ango Sadiq was one of the freed hostages of the Abuja-Kaduna train terrorist attack. Sadiq, the son of Professor Ango Abdullahi, Convener of the Northern Elder’s Forum, and late Hajiya Aisha, “Mama Taraba”, former Minister of Women Affairs, was released by the terrorists on Saturday, July 9, 2022 after three months in captivity. The Returning Officer, Dr Hashim Suleiman of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, announced the result in Zaria. He declared Ango-Abdullahi winner of the election having defeated a four-term member representing the area, Malam Garba-Datti Mohammed of the All Progressive Congress, APC, who polled 31,737 votes.
