Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta addresses rumours of PSG interest

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reiterated that he is happy at the London-based club while responding to recent speculation linking him with a move to PSG. The 41-year-old has been in charge of Arsenal since December 2019, and he led the club to a second-placed finish in the 2022-23 Premier League table. The Gunners led the table for 248 days before being overtaken by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side. Several names, including Jose Mourinho and Julian Nagelsmann, have been linked to the position, with Arteta also reportedly considered a candidate. Arteta had previously played for PSG during a loan spell from Barcelona between 2000 and 2002, making a potential return to Paris an intriguing prospect. Reacting to claims of alleged interest from PSG, Mikel Arteta told Spanish outlet Marca; “I can only say that I am happy at Arsenal. I feel loved, valued by our owners, Stan and Josh [Kroenke], and I have a lot to do here at this club. I am happy and tremendously grateful to be at Arsenal.” While Arteta appeared to rule out an immediate move to PSG, he hinted that a return to his home country of Spain could be a possibility in the future. He said; “Spain is my country. I have been away for many years and at some point, it could be an option to return to the league and have other experiences. But not now.” Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta addresses rumours of PSG interestArsenal players celebrating a goal against Wolves. I was Pep [Guardiola]’s assistant at [Manchester] City, we were playing Arsenal and I could see that the soul of the club had been lost. “There was no enjoyment, no feeling. I knew there was the option of, soon after, being in the other dugout and I knew that this club is so big that we had to connect the team with the fans. “It has been hard to do and undo… but now I feel happy. We have a clear identity, there is unity and we are full of energy. That’s the greatest thing. From top to bottom, everyone is pushing in the same direction. We give the fans something to dream about and be proud of. And now, we have to win more.”

“Nigeria lacks selfless leaders committed to national interest” ― Peter Obi

Democracy Day: "Nigeria lacks selfless leaders committed to national interest" ― Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the February 25 general election, Mr Peter Obi has claimed Nigeria as a country lacks selfless leaders committed to national interest, sustainable development and innovative thinking that offers every Nigerian freedom of choice of abode, protection of lives and property and ordered liberties. Obi in a post via his official Twitter page joined other stakeholders to celebrate Nigeria’s  Democracy Day, while lamenting that it is regrettable the country is now in an era where foundational pillars of democracy are undermined by prevalent impunity and pervasive violence and bloodletting. The presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi Obi noted that the collective choice of late Chief M. K.O Abiola as a worthy leader for the nation was saluted by Nigerians and governments and peoples across the world, pointing out that June 12 underpins Nigerians’ long collective journey to nationhood as a true democracy. Part of his statement read, “Our collective choice of late Chief M. K.O Abiola as a worthy leader for the nation was saluted by Nigerians and governments and peoples across the world. Therefore, June 12 underpins our long collective journey to nationhood as a true democracy. “However, the current state of our politics tells a different story. Our democracy is deeply troubled while our nation’s destiny remains uncertain and precarious. We remain a nation in search of solutions to too many basic problems. “Above all, the government must respect and protect the institutions of the democratic state by respecting the social contract with the people by meeting their needs, obeying their wishes and fulfilling the responsibilities of responsible governance as contained in the constitution. A cardinal responsibility of the government in this regard is respect for the rule of law. “Regrettably, we are now in an era where these foundational pillars of democracy are undermined by prevalent impunity and pervasive violence and bloodletting. The trust deficit between the leaders and Nigerians continues to expand. “The deficits of trust and efficiency in our last elections demonstrate this malady quite boldly. The challenge of June 12 and a dedicated Democracy Day is to inspire us to correct the errors of our recent elections. “This is the surest way to restore the confidence of our people in the future of our nation and the promise of true democracy. I however urge us all not to lose faith in the inbuilt design of our democratic system to self-correct. “Personally, I remain committed and convinced that a New Nigeria is possible. Our aspiration for a nation of equity, justice, security and peace can hardly be utopia. We are a nation blessed richly with human and natural resources. “What we lack are selfless leaders who are committed to national interest, sustainable development and innovative thinking that offers every Nigerian irrespective of ethnicity, religion or social strata, the freedom of choice of abode, and protection of lives, property and ordered liberties. “These aspirations are real and achievable, and I hereby reiterate my promise to Nigerians that we will not relent in our fight to bring about a leadership that will accord them the priority they deserve.”

Mother interrogates son after he declared interest in dropping out of school to become a bus conductor (Video)

Video footage captures the moment a mother had a convo with her son who voiced his interest in dropping out of school and becoming a bus conductor.
Mother son school conductor

In the video, the mum queried his decision of dropping out of school to embrace his ‘passion’ and he confidently affirmed that the bus conducting job is what he wants.
She went on to ask him in Igbo dialect whether he has learnt the rudiments of the job and he said yes. She proceeded to enquire where he would want to be stationed and he gave his answer by saying, Douglas.
The mum who seemed to be enjoying every bit of the conversation further asked him to show her their method/style of loading passengers for her to ascertain if he has really learnt the job and the boy without wasting time began to display his ‘rare skill’.

Peter Obi lectures Nigerians on how to select the right leaders shortly after declaring presidential interest

Former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has given a short lecture on how to select the right leaders.

On his Twitter page, the vice presidential candidate in the 2019 general election urged Nigerians to always look at the history of people who vie for any political positions in the country before electing them into office.
Mr. Obi’s lecture is coming a few days after he declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election.
Charging Nigerians to always ask questions before selecting a leader for the country, the former governor wrote: “We must begin to look at the history of people who vie for any political positions in our country. Where was the person 25 years ago? What was he/she doing? How has he/she managed wealth and other leadership positions?
“These are critical questions we need to ask to be sure we are selecting capable hands for our dear country.

“It is time we shunned ethnic and religious sentiments and voted a truly Nigerian leader who will unite every section of the country and ensure the integrated development of the nation.”
