He said that he had moved to Canada and had gotten a job two weeks after he arrived the country. According to him, the job was meant to be temporary but it was later made permanent.

He wrote: “I got my first car and moved out of my shared apartment within three months of resuming my job, took the road test and got my driver’s license once (those who know, know); I got married to the love of my life in January, I’ve made some nice friends, and achieved some other things.” MY JAPA EXPERIENCE Today makes it exactly a year since I left Nigeria. I had a lot of fear within me as I was leaving, but somehow, the relief and happiness I also felt overshadowed the fear. I had dreamt about the day and 4 days before the trip, I couldn’t even sleep so much pic.twitter.com/HY9WTixWvi — Josh (@KaizTweetz) May 18, 2023

“To Japa is good but at what cost?” – US-based Nigerian man laments

“To Japa is good but at what cost?” – US-based Nigerian man laments

A Nigerian lawyer based in the US has taken to Twitter to express his regrets about the negative consequences of relocating to another country in search of better opportunities. @ike_obiora, as he is known on Twitter, revealed that his decision to move overseas has resulted in him missing out on three significant family occasions, including the funeral of his beloved grandmother who raised him and his two uncles.

Reflecting on the drawbacks of living abroad, he expressed concern that his children will be unable to develop a close bond with their cousins and extended family. He wrote: “Japa! Japa! Japa! At what cost? I was raised by my Grandma, she died 3yrs ago & I wasn’t there. “My Uncle died 2021, I wasn’t there. Another of my Uncle just died yesterday, and I won’t be there again. “I haven’t seen some of my nephews since their birth. At what cost again? ☹️ I don’t even want to start counting important events in the lives of friends and family that I have missed. “To japa is good, no doubt, but at what cost exactly? Families are separated for live only to reunite again at the burial of their parents, if all will be there. “I grew up bonding with my cousins at Grandma’s house. We will always be there for “Ụka Nne” celebration chanting “Nnem ife dị mma ka mụ ga-emere gị” song after overfeeding on ụkwa and Co. Christmas, New year and Easter celebrations are not left out too. “Now, everything is pointing towards me raising children who will never get to have that familial bonding & relationship with their cousins and other relations. Not because I want to, but because it is what it is. “The very thing that made us who we are, are eroded on daily basis. Nigeria really needs to work. We can’t continue like this in perpetuity.” See the post below:

Man duped by his wife and left stranded abroad after selling car for japa funds

Man duped by his wife and left stranded abroad after selling car for travel funds

A married man has come forward to reveal how he was duped by his wife after they made relocation plans together. During their courtship, they had agreed to travel abroad, and he was responsible for sourcing five million naira to cover the expenses. To raise the required amount, the husband sold his Venza, and his wife brought in an agent to facilitate the process. However, the man later discovered that his wife had colluded with the agent to process her work visa as “single” instead of “married,” which was what they had agreed upon. Upon arriving in the UK, the wife blocked all communication channels between her and her husband, leaving him stranded and helpless. Sharing the post, Bolanle Cole wrote: “A follower has raised alarm of been duped by his wife. T issue started when the couple in the course of their courtship agreed to travel abroad and the husband was to source for N5M to kick start the process. “The husband sold his Venza to raise the sum of N5M, the wife brought in an agent to kickstart the process. “Along the line, the lady allegedly connived with the agent and got the work visa processed and filled single instead of married in her process of documentations. “The story took another dimension when the wife got to UK and blocked every means the husband could have used to get in contact with her. “The saddest part of the story happened to be be that the man in order to consolidate her traveling plan with the lady had contracted a marriage under the Act with the wife💔” See the post below:

Simi reveals the real reason why a lot of people ‘japa’

GistReel

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Simi has shared the real reason why many Nigerians ‘japa’ in search of a better life.

Simi

It is no longer news that many Nigerians leave the country at the slightest opportunity. Many go as far as selling their properties just to be able to leave for a better life. Simi took to Twitter where she released a couple of tweets revealing why Nigerians leave the country. The mother-of-one opined nobody ever wants to leave their friends and family behind. However, they ‘japa’, so they do not want to die feeling helpless.

Simi

Simi wrote: “Black Africans have to fight and fight for space and respect and survival everywhere they go because the one place that is their birthright is hard on their lives. One would think this would make African leaders wake tf up and help us fight for our dignity.  Who really wants to go land of strangers, away from everyone and the thing they love? People that want to survive. Nobody chooses that life because it’s good or easy. They just don’t want to die feeling that helpless. But these leaders don’t love their country. They don’t love their people. They only love their greedy bellies. They only care about their own children. They only care about their families. As long as their wickedness is not happening to them, why stop?” See post below;
