The state’s Hisbah commandant, Ibrahim Dahiru, who stated this in an interview on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, said the move is part of the corps’ efforts to stem social vices during Ramadan. Ibrahim explained that the Hisbah corps has conducted sensitization for commercial sex workers and alcohol sellers. “We have gone round to such areas across the state and warned the perpetrators of the offences to quit their illegitimate businesses during this holy month of Ramadan or leave the state.”, he said. The Hisbah commandant declared that operatives would embark on general patrol to arrest those who ignored the order.

Umar Namadi Dammodi, candidate for the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the governorship election in Jigawa State.

Umar Namadi was declared the winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Jigawa State after polling 618,449 votes. “The candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Namadi Umar Alhaji scored 618,449 to beat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lamido Mustapha Sule who scored 368,726 votes and Ibrahim Aminu Ringim of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) scored 37,156 votes. “Therefore, Umar Namadi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the higher votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” the returning Officer for the state gubernatorial election, Prof. Zayyanu Umar Birnin Kebbi, announced at the Collation Centre in Dutse.
