On Monday, November 13, a driver attempting to escape arrest by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASMA) left a trail of devastation on the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway, killing two roadside sweepers. The fleeing suspect, wanted for a traffic offense, collided with two members of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) at their duty post, resulting in the tragic death of both sanitation workers. According to eyewitness accounts, the LASMA officials had moved to arrest the driver for a traffic violation, but instead of complying, the driver opted to flee the scene. In a desperate attempt to evade capture, the suspect rammed into the two LAWMA workers who were stationed by the roadside, leading to their immediate demise.

The scene quickly attracted the attention of security personnel, including the police, who arrived promptly. However, their intervention escalated tensions as tear gas was deployed to disperse protesters and restore order to the area. LAWMA, in a statement released in the aftermath of the incident, confirmed the untimely demise of the two sanitation workers. “LAWMA is working with security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the errant driver of the car, with vehicle number EPE 984 DV,” the statement read. “We wish to appeal to motorists for the umpteenth time, to drive with utmost caution on the highways, to avoid sad incidents like this happening to our sanitation workers or anyone in the course of their legitimate duties. The public is urged to remain calm as appropriate steps are being taken and necessary measures put in place. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of the deceased, whom we love most dearly. Reports say while he was celebrating with the union, some unknown men fired a gunshot in the air but he was later hit by a stray bullet. The groom and another person were hit by a stray bullet amidst the celebration. The two persons; the other man and the groom were rushed to the hospital but Adebowale was pronounced dead on arrival while the other is receiving treatment. The  Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola has disclosed that investigations are currently ongoing.

A 14-year-old boy named Marvelous Asefon has been remanded by a magistrate’s court in Akure, Ondo State for killing a neighbour over girlfriend related issue. The remand order was issued in connection to the alleged killing of his neighbour, Sunday Ogele. According to reports, the defendant was apprehended by the state police command in April after fatally stabbing the deceased with a pair of scissors during a dispute over a girlfriend in Oka Akoko, which is the administrative center of Akoko South-West Local Government Area. The charge read, “That you, Marvelous Asefon, on Sunday, April 20, 2023, at 8pm in Kanmu, Oka-Akoko in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did kill one Sunday Ogele, 17, by stabbing him with a pair of scissors in his rib, which led to his death.”Trending:Another Nigerian lady set to break Guinness World Record as she begins counting of rice grains (Video) The defendant was subsequently charged with one count of murder. The prosecution argued that the offence violated sections 319 (1) and 316 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 2, Laws of Ondo State, 2016. The court did not take the defendant’s plea. During the proceedings, the prosecutor, Matins Olowofeso, submitted an application requesting the defendant’s remand in a custodial center until advice is received from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. The magistrate, Folashade Aduroja, granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered the remand of the defendant. The case was adjourned until June 11 for further hearings.

According to reports, On Saturday, May 13, 2023, Bode had requested money from his mother to attend a funeral in the community but was not satisfied with the N10,000 she gave him, claiming that she had withdrawn N20,000 from his account.

In a fit of rage, he picked up a hoe and struck his mother on the head, causing her to fall into a pool of blood and passed away instantly. The community youths apprehended the suspect and turned him over to the police, while the deceased’s remains were deposited at a morgue in the area. During interrogation, Bode expressed no remorse for his actions and claimed to be mentally unstable. He said he decided to “finish” his mother because she insulted him and refused to give him his money, and that he was tired of living and wanted to die. Information gathered say that Barrister Godwin Ikoiwak complained to his fellow colleague, Barrister Sunny Anyanwu in a phone conversation that he was having issues with his wife over infidelity. According to the friend of the later barrister, Sunny Anyanwu, his friend disclosed to him that he reported the matter to his wife’s family who invited him to a meeting in their family compound in Nung Udoe Itak, Ikono Local Government Area, but did not return home alive. Barrister Anyanwu also disclosed that his late friend told him that his wife was having sexual relationship with her former boss, a legal practitioner, Barrister, C.I. Odoh. Also he revealed that the wife of his late friend brought in a 19-yar-old boy to be a house boy but little did he knew that the boy was his wife’s son until he discovered recently. Enraged reactions surfaced after a police officer, allegedly soliciting a bribe, shot and killed a businessman, identified as Ibeh Onyeka, aka Onyi gadget, in Asaba, Delta State. On Wednesday morning, April 5, eyewitnesses stated that the phone merchant was travelling with his pregnant wife, whom he wedded three months prior, when he was fatally shot in the head. He was immediately transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba, where he subsequently died. “He and his wife were on their way to work this morning when he was stopped by a team of police officers. They asked him for money and he gave them. “However, after a few mins drive, he ran into another set of police officers who demanded that he gives them money. They asked him for N100 but he said he doesn’t have any money with him because he had given his last cash to their colleagues. “One of the police officers cocked his gun and Onyi stepped on his accelerator but he was shot him in the head before he could move. He is very popular in Asaba, he got married three months ago and his wife is currently pregnant.” said an eye witness. Enraged youths were witnessed carrying Onyeka’s body to the police station as they protested and demanded justice.

The suspect was apprehended for  negligence that resulted in the child’s demise. Adegesin, who possessed a loaded dane gun, had left it unattended in an open space in his backyard, where children played. A 13-year-old boy identified as Babalola reportedly picked up the gun, aimed it at the girl, and pulled the trigger, resulting in her death. According to DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect was arrested following a report made at the Imasayi police divisional headquarters detailing the incident that occurred at Kukudi village in Imasayi. Oyeyemi said, “Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, the deceased was discovered in a pool of blood. “Preliminary investigations revealed that Semiu Adegesin, the owner of the dane gun, loaded his gun and carelessly left it in an open place in the backyard of the house where children used to play. “It was at this point that the 13-year-old Babalola picked up the loaded gun, pointed it at the deceased, and pulled the trigger. “The deceased was quickly taken to the General Hospital, Ilaro, but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. “The owner of the dane gun was promptly arrested and taken to the station for interrogation.” Expressing his sympathy to the family of the deceased, the Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, described the incident as unfortunate. He also urged the public to remain calm while assuring them that the case would be thoroughly investigated. “The death of young Esther Samuel is an unfortunate incident, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to her family. “The Ogun State Police Command will ensure that justice is served in this case and the perpetrator brought to book. “We urge members of the public to remain calm as we conduct a thorough and discreet investigation,” He said.

He admitted to the crime to his in-laws, who are struggling to come to terms with the tragic event. In his words; “I returned home in the morning of March 2, 2023, and was knocking at the gate, but my wife did not open immediately. “In that anger, I started shouting at her. I first slapped and hit her from the gate to the house before angrily grabbing her on the neck and strangling her to death. “I couldn’t believe what happened because I never expected that such actions would lead to her death. “I eventually abandoned the corpse and left out of fear and confusion, after confiding in few persons who I sought advice on what to do. “It was later in the evening that my mother reached out to my wife’s family members.” According to a source close to the family, the couple, who got married in August of last year, were anticipating the arrival of their first child before the unfortunate incident occurred. The source revealed that the couple had been experiencing intermittent episodes of domestic violence and familial challenges, which the wife’s family was unaware of. Nathaniel Uzuegbunam’s family from Obiuno community in Otolo Nnewi expressed confusion over why the perpetrator was not present during the entire ordeal and why the mother had to be the one to deliver the tragic news. “At about 7pm on Thursday, March 2, 2023, the deceased family received a call from the husband’s mother, informing them that their daughter had just slumped and appeared to be dead. “As soon as they made their way to their in-law’s residence at Ezi-Ogwugwu, they were informed that their daughter had been rushed to the Nnewi Diocesan Hospital at Akwudo. “At the hospital, the doctor on duty informed them that their daughter was dead after examining her body,” the source stated. When contacted, Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga was unable to verify the incident, but a senior police officer at the Command stated that the suspect would face charges once the investigations were completed.

A German woman has been accused of killing a lookalike she found online in an attempt to fake her own death. The alleged murderer has been identified as Sharaban K, 23, while the victim was a beauty blogger identified as Khadidja, 23.

This incident took place in Ingolstadt, Germany last August, according to the sources. It was revealed that Khadidja 0 was stabbed about 50 times after which, her body was left on the back seat of Sharaban K’s Mercedes. Sharaban K reportedly had an accomplice identified as Sheqir K who she claims to be her boyfriend. Reports have it that they have both gone into hiding.

As soon as the body was discovered, police traced the car’s registration to Sharaban K’s family and given the current state of the corpse investigators assumed that she was the victim without conducting a DNA test to confirm. However, later on, after an autopsy was conducted, it was discovered that the actual victim was Khadidja 0 which prompted an investigation into the case. In recent news, it was reported that Sharaban K has been charged with murder after searching Instagram in a bid to find a victim who matched her physical appearance. Attorney General Veronika Grieser said: “It has been confirmed that the accused had contacted several women via Instagram before the act. who seemed to look similar to her. It can be assumed that the suspect wanted to go into hiding, due to internal disputes with her family, and fake her own death.”
