"We have good local league players fit for Super Eagles"

After several abroad-based call-ups, Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has called for the inclusion of star players in the local league. Speaking at the launch of the ‘Let’s Do It Again‘ campaign in Lagos, Musa urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to also prioritize homegrown talent in the country’s national team selections. He emphasized the importance of supporting local players to strengthen the foundation of the national team. Musa, who is a product of Nigeria’s youth development system, believes that while overseas-born players of Nigerian descent contribute quality to the team, adding home-based players is essential for long-term success.

He noted the impact of timely payments on retaining talents, “If they get their salary regularly, they will not think of going outside because they have everything they need here.” Regarding criticism and pressure on the national team, Musa called for an all round support, urging fans and journalists to be more encouraging than overly critical. He revealed that the negativity affects players’ performance and even influences premature retirements. Meanwhile, the ‘Let’s Do It Again’ campaign aims to rally support for the Super Eagles in their quest to win the Cote d’Ivoire 2024 African Cup of Nations, which the Nigeria skipper believes is achievable, with the right support.

Subsidy: Local refineries beginning production won’t change fuel price

GistReel

Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Mele Kyari has said that the notion that the price of fuel would reduce once local refineries like the recently inaugurated Dangote refinery begin production, is false. The NNPCL boss who spoke about the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu during an interview with Arise TV on Thursday, June 1, said that Dangote Refinery, Port Harcourt Refining Company, and others in Nigeria are not going to change the pump price of fuel despite the volume of products they push out. Source: Getty Kyari also confirmed that Dangote Refinery would start pushing out products by the end of July and early August. Port Harcourt Refinery will be fixed before the end of the year and it is expected that it would further boost local production of petrol. He said; “There is a notion that if the product is processed locally, prices will reduce. Let me make it clear that it is not going to change anything. If you produce locally, the refineries will also input the cost of production and other things and it will be sold at the current price. “There will also be no subsidy when local production starts because there is no cash-to-back subsidy, this country no longer has the resources to continue with subsidy.” Appearing in another interview on Channels Television, Kyari said fuel queues experienced across the country won’t exceed Saturday, June 3.

The key trouble with the PMS system is supply, but I have supplies. “There are over 810 million litres of PMS in depots, tanks and fuel stations across the country, so you don’t have the problem of transferring those from marine to land, you already have them on the ground.” On the PMS pricing document which went viral days ago, Kyari said; “You have seen a document in the space out there. Every company does this. It is a marketing document. It was not a price announcing document, every company keeps this record and adjusts it appropriately on the basis of changing conditions in the market.  “So what you saw was just an internal company document that found its way into the internet. It is an NNPC document but it was not intended to be an announcement and is not an announcement, because it can change the next day.”

The Big Brother Naija Reunion is underway with a lot of dramas from the ex-Shine-Ya-Eye housemates.
On Tuesday, 7th June, Boma Akpore and Beatrice were caught in a heated argument and didn’t hold back derogatory words.

Beatrice had accused Boma of saying a lot of bad things about her both in and outside the house. Boma on his part denied ever saying hurtful things about Beatrice as she alleged and this degenerated into a verbal altercation.
While Beatrice lambasted Boma over his appearance by saying he looks like a mad man due to his hairstyle, Boma described her as a local girl who is only seeking avenues to create highlights because she lasted in the house for only 2 weeks.

Boma went on to say that Beatrice has a masculine stature, while Beatrice also rained insults on him.
