"Hakimi's mother is not like Nigerian mothers" – Man warns (Video)

A man has jogged the memories of folks who want to imitate the popular footballer Achraf Hakimi by leaving their wealth with their Nigerian mothers.

Hakimi Mother Nigerian men mother

Nigerians, predominantly the men, have rejoiced over how the Moroccan football star had outwitted his wife in their equitable distribution of assets following their divorce. Since Hakimi had all his properties in his mum’s name, making it impossible for his wife to get ahold of them, some men have decided to follow after his footsteps. A netizen has reminded men about how their Nigerian mothers have always refused to give back what they gave them to hold. He refreshed memories about how mothers would always withhold what was giving to them by their kids, imposing their rights on it by virtue of being their maternal provider. A Nigerian dentist takes it upon himself to shush those who migrated abroad, particularly those in the UK about their frequent complaints on their hectic lifestyle.

Nigerian dentist knocks UK-based countrymen over incessant complaints about life abroad

It is no news that since the ‘Japa‘ wave increased, Nigerians in the UK made it a routine to give feedback to their countrymen at home with unending complaints about high taxes, workload, lonely lifestyle, etc. A Nigerian dentist on Twitter, @tk_oso claps back at the ridiculousness of such feedback from the UK while emphasizing the need to embrace the privilege they have also. In his words; “The things you left in Nigeria, did you build them in a year? Why do you want your life to suddenly transform in one year of japa? If you see progress, be thankful and keep pushing cos you’ll soon break through. Some of the things UK people say makes me puke. You get here and suddenly things that were considered luxury in Nigeria become your daily reality. You get things you couldn’t dream of buying in Nigeria, but you’re pissed you don’t have 20 thousand pounds in your account 12 months after traveling. What happened to patience? You complain about working too much, but you forget to mention that you get paid for every extra minute you spend at work. You’ve suddenly forgotten how you spent 5 hours on the road going to work in Nigeria, or how you got called in to do overtime without extra pay. In your 12 months here, police hasn’t stopped you once, you’ve never heard sound of generator or constant blaring of horns. You have constant power and superb internet, eat whatever you want without breaking the bank. Anytime you feel ungrateful, remember why you left Nigeria. We know how bad things are back home, no one going through the wahala in Nigeria will take you serious when you complain. Don’t look for sympathy from people back home, your quality of life is considerably better, yes I said it. Form a community and lament amongst yourselves. Stop looking for Pele and ehyah from someone that’s not had light in two weeks. Thank you.” The things you left in Nigeria, did you build them in a year? Why do you want your life to suddenly transform in one year of japa? If you see progress, be thankful and keep pushing cos you’ll soon break through. Some of the things UK people say makes me puke. — Left-handed Dentist (@tk_oso) April 14, 2023

Nigerian man arrested for reportedly drugging girls and trafficking them to Libya

A Nigerian man, Adebisi Muideen, has been arrested by the Osun State Police command for allegedly drugging young girls and trafficking them to Libya.

A statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola on Tuesday morning revealed that the suspect had successfully moved the four girls, to be trafficked to Tripoli in Libya, to Kano from Ile-Ile, Osun state before he was caught. According to the statement, the suspect invited the young girls to a birthday party, served them food and laced their drinks with sleeping pills. “After taking the food and drinks, the girls slept off and later woke up in Kano state en route to Tripoli, capital of Libya. However, three of the girls escaped miraculously in Kano and called their parents who reported the matter to police. “The three of the girls have been reunited with their families but the whereabouts of the fourth girl was still not known presently. The suspect said the girls willingly accepted to go to Libya to work, adding that his brother who resides in Tripoli instructed him to get girls for him and send the girls to one man in Kano who will take them to Libya from Kano. When we got to the man’s house in Kano, we met so many girls that were being processed for the journey to Libya,” he added.

UK stops recruitment of Nigerian health workers

UK stops recruitment of Nigerian health workers

The UK government makes a decision to cease the consideration of Nigerian health workers for recruitment due to the country being placed on the red list of nations that are not eligible for recruitment. UK terminates recruitment of Nigerian health workers This resolution is made after the World Health Organisation (WHO) identified Nigeria as one of the 55 countries facing significant challenges in terms of the health workforce. As per the UK government, health and social care employers will no longer actively seek recruitment from these countries, unless a government-to-government agreement is in place. This is expressed in a statement on the website of the UK government titled ‘Code of Practice for the international recruitment of Health and social care personnel in England’. “Consistent with the WHO Global Code of Practice principles and articles, and as explicitly called for by the WHO Global Code of Practice 10-year review, the listed countries should be prioritised for health personnel development and health system-related support, provided with safeguards that discourage active international recruitment of health personnel. “Countries on the list should not be actively targeted for recruitment by health and social care employers, recruitment organisations, agencies, collaborations, or contracting bodies unless there is a government-to-government agreement in place to allow managed recruitment undertaken strictly in compliance with the terms of that agreement. “Countries on the WHO Health Workforce Support and Safeguards list are graded red in the code. If a government-to-government agreement is put in place between a partner country, which restricts recruiting organisations to the terms of the agreement, the country is added to the amber list.” In 2021, the United Kingdom halted the recruitment of healthcare workers from Nigeria and 46 other nations. This decision was made due to the rising number of health and social care worker migrations from low and lower-middle-income countries, which poses a threat to the achievement of their health and social care objectives. As per data from the UK General Medical Council, there are presently 11,055 doctors who have been trained in Nigeria practising in the UK.
