Former Manchester United striker, Andy Cole, has said that the club won’t be able to win the Premier League title even if they sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli. Osimhen is said to be one of the top priority players the English club wants to sign as soon as the transfer window reopens.

His goal against Udinese, helped Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years. Speaking to BoyleSports ahead of an FA Cup final match between Manchester United and Manchester City, Andy Cole stated that his former club won’t be able to win the Premier League next season even if they succeed in signing Victor Osimhen. He said; “No, Manchester United can’t win the league next season. It frustrates me when people think that buying two more players, we can then win the league. So why are Manchester City in such a good position if all it takes is buying two players? Make it make sense. Two players, including Victor Osimhen, can’t help Manchester United compete for the league title.

Soure: Getty “Unless Manchester City don’t buy anyone this summer and say ‘we’ll let everyone catch us up.’ Football doesn’t work like that, so I’m honest when people ask if Manchester United can compete for the league title next season, I say no.” Also commenting on Jadon Sancho’s form, Cole said; “Sancho should do whatever he feels comfortable to do. Everyone knows he can be a great player, but sometimes you’re up and sometimes you’re down, that’s football in general. Once you go back to basics, like Marcus Rashford has done this season, you can be fantastic again. Only Erik ten Hag will have the final say on whether he has a long-term future at Manchester United or not. Manchester United need better players to compete for the title, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the summer.”
An Italian publication has alleged that Chelsea scouts who were present during Napoli’s match against Monza on Sunday, May 14, were left “unimpressed” with Nigerian superstar, Victor Osimhen’s performance. The newly crowned Serie A champions were defeated 2-0 by Monza during the match. While it was alleged that Osimhen performed underwhelmingly during the match, he has been a revelation for Napoli this season and handed them their first Serie A title in 33 years with his goal against Udinese. He is wanted by some top clubs in Europe. In a report shared on Monday, May 15, Il Mattino reported that Chelsea might take a step back from the race to sign the Nigerian forward in the summer. Mauricio Pochettino is set to take over this week as the new Chelsea manager and it’s highly unlikely he will have any reservations about the club moving for Osimhen when the window opens despite the scouts’ decision. 
Manchester United are deemed to be the frontrunners to land the player. It’s been reported earlier that the Red Devils were in touch with Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis over a possible Osimhen transfer, but a deal did not materialize. Any other move they make will be reliant on whether the club’s takeover is completed in time. Asides from Chelsea and Manchester United, Newcastle, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid are also keen on signing the Nigerian superstar. 
Hours after Victor Osimhen gave Napoli their first Serie A title in 33 years with his goal against Udinese on Thursday night, the club’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated that he’s not willing to sell the Nigerian superstar. Osimhen is a top choice for many European clubs and it’s been reported that Napoli are willing to sell him for around €150 million (£131m/$165m). When asked if Osimhen will move on this summer during an interview on the Rai Sport show ‘Cinque Minuti’ on Friday evening, De Laurentiis said; 
“I will not sell Victor Osimhen this summer – no way!” Napoli’s President also confirmed that they are waiting on coach Luciano Spalletti to agree to a contract extension. He added; “He’s a legend I’ve been chasing for at least ten years. I finally brought him to Naples after the Covid crisis and I hope to open a cycle with him, because he is a great leader. I exercised the clause for the renewal of the contract, now it’s up to him to say the word… Luciano declared that he fell in love [with Naples], here he has become a hero and it is right that he enjoys it.” 
The Nigerian footballer grabbed his 100th career goal in his 197th professional game, faster than Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It came in an incredible style too as he struck the ball past the keeper from an impossible angle next to the by-line. For comparison, Messi scored his 100th goal after 210 games, while Ronaldo, the world’s greatest goalscorer, bagged his after 301 games. Following the goal last night, Osimhen became the first Napoli player to score in seven matches in a row in the Serie A. The Nigerian football star has scored 18 goals and recorded three assists in 19 league appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s side this season. 
Osimhen was seen climbing up into the stands and walking towards the young fan who he eventually gave a heartfelt hug. As he made his way back to continue the warm-up exercise with his teammates, some fans were seen holding on to the arm of the Nigerian player who is currently Seria A’s highest goal-scorer in the ongoing campaign. 
Speaking after the Nigerian-born Napoli striker scored a goal that initiated his team’s 2-1 win over AS Roma on Sunday, January 29, Mourinho said he would buy the Osimhen if he’s managing a club with lots of money. He however added that the Nigerian striker needs to be a bit more professional. Mourinho said; “And if you want me to compare him with Drogba, I would say, the level is there but Drogba would never dive.
