Innoson withdraws scholarship awarded to Mmesoma over result manipulation

UTME score: Innoson withdraws scholarship awarded to Mmesoma

The management of Innoson Automobile Company has withdrawn the N3 million scholarship awarded to Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme over her involvement in Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) result manipulation. This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Cornel Osigwe, Head of Corporate Communications at Innoson Group, and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Onitsha.

Mmesoma Ejikema poses in a picture with the Chairman of Innoson motors, Chief Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma According to him, “In recent days, we have been involved in the process of investigating allegations surrounding the 2023 UTME examination results of one of our scholarship recipients, Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme. “It was reported initially that Miss Joy scored exceptionally high on the exam, a feat that led to her being awarded a scholarship by our company. “However, subsequent reports of discrepancies in her UTME score led us to seek clarification from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and to allow her to voice her stance, we engaged in direct dialogue with Miss Joy. “Further to this, a committee set up by Gov. Charles Soludo, carried out a thorough independent investigation into this matter,” he said. Osigwe noted that the findings from the rigorous investigation have now confirmed that Miss Mmesoma did manipulate her UTME results. “This conclusion is deeply disappointing and stands in direct contravention of the values we hold dear at Innoson Vehicles, particularly those that underscore our scholarship program. “In line with these principles and in response to the confirmed findings, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw the scholarship awarded to Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme. “This action is a testament to our unyielding commitment to honesty, integrity, and merit-based recognition,” he said. He acknowledged that the development was regrettable, and it has undoubtedly caused dismay among those who stood by Miss Mmesoma. He assured that Innoson Vehicles remained steadfast in its mission to support deserving students, invest in the future of the education sector, and upheld the highest ethical standards.

JAMB Fraud: Innoson conducts independent investigation, speaks on stance on scholarship awarded

Innoson Group speaks on allegations of fraud by JAMB against Ejikeme Mmesoma, the top scorer in 2023 UTME exam, as they speak on their stance as regards scholarship awarded to her. News made headlines some days ago of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) alleging that the top scorer in the 2023 UTME, Ejikeme Mmesoma, had forged her results.

While the accused student has gone online to refute this allegations with clips of her printed results, Innoson Group, which had awarded the young student university scholarship, has spoken up. Cornel Osigwe, the company’s head of corporate communications, had stated that the girl he had met was incapable of doing such.

He noted that the company is carrying out its own independent investigation and would withdraw their scholarship if it is discovered that she had willfully manipulated her results; if found, however, that she didn’t, Cornel notes that the scholarship would stand, whether or not she’s the top scorer. He wrote: “We’re doing our independent investigation on the issue of manipulation, if we found that the girl willfully manipulated her result, we shall withdraw the scholarship, but if we observe she is innocent of the accusation, then the scholarship stands, whether she is the best or not.”

Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez has said that he is surprised that the red card awarded to Real Madrid star, Vinicius Junior, was overturned. The 22-year-old Brazilian footballer was awarded the red card for slapping Valencia footballer, Hugo Duro after he was racially abused by the club’s fans. In the footage the referee was shown before making the red card decision, a clip of Duro grabbing Real Madrid player around the neck with his arm was omitted. Xavi who initially offered his support to Vinicius over the racial abuse he suffered, said last night that the red card decision should have stood after the altercation with Hugo Duro. He said; “I don’t know if overturning Vinicius Junior’s red card is fair. My thoughts are that racism should be condemned. There was aggression there so I am surprised that they rescinded the red card.” Xavi had previously said the game should have been stopped after the abuse. He who spoke at a press conference days ago said; “Yes, matches should be stopped. It is the only profession in which insults are accepted. I don’t see any baker or teacher being insulted at work. All this has to be stopped. Try insulting a building worker. I’m sure a brick will fall on your head. “It doesn’t matter what shirt you wear. Vinicius is a person before he is a footballer. We have to defend the football professional. I don’t understand as a person, as a citizen, that you have to put up with insults. You don’t have to go to a football stadium to insult. If I go to the theatre and I don’t like the play, I leave, but I don’t insult. “We have to condemn that and educate people. We are in an environment where we are insulted and called names. It is very difficult not to bounce back. We don’t have an educated environment in the world of football.”
