Chidinma Ekile. He sought to know how, when and if truly she was once blind and where the sight was restored. The priest added that he would be investigating her mother since she was the one who had prayed for the restoration of her sight. He wrote … “TO MS. CHIDINMA EKILE Dear Ms. Chidinma Ekile, I saw your video where you told the world that you were born blind but later received your sight when your mother went on her knees to God in prayer. To convince the doubting Thomases, I will please request that you give us permission to interview your mother, the hospital where you were born, the name and address of the hospital, and the doctor or doctors that confirmed you blind after birth and the cause of the blindness. We would also like to know whether you went back to the hospital or went to a doctor or doctors that confirmed you were blind after receiving your sight. If yes, may we know them as well? Our medical team will carry out the investigations as soon as we receive the required details. Please contact me via my email, [email protected]. Thanks Rev. Fr. Dr. Angelo Chidi Unegbu I am a Catholic priest who is based in Germany. My Facebook page is ‘Fada Angelo Chidi Unegbu’. I am interested in your case because last year we put up the challenge of searching for any visually impaired person who has ever received his or her sight after a man or woman of God prayed or laid hands on him or her, but no one showed up. Although in your own case it was your mother who prayed, the investigations will still help in clearing the air to a reasonable extent on claims of miraculously restoring the sight of the blind being made by some of our men and women of God in Nigeria. Please help to share this message until it gets to Ms. Chidinma. Fada Angelo Chidi Unegbu”

I became blind while solving mathematics questions

"I became blind while solving mathematics questions" - WAEC's best physically challenged candidate

Precious Mbajiorgu has been crowned the best physically challenged candidate in the 2022 West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Precious, who hails from Awada Primary School, Obosi, near Onitsha, shared her journey, revealing that she lost her sight at the tender age of 11 while solving a mathematics problem in class. Recounting the incident, she described how her world suddenly turned dark, leaving her unable to see the board or anything around her.

“I was not born blind. I used to see perfectly when I was a child until I turned 11. It happened between 2007 and 2008, but I cannot remember the exact day. I just went to school that fateful day. Back then, I was a pupil at Awada Primary School, Obosi, near Onitsha. It was in that school that I became visually impaired. My classmates and I were in the classroom solving mathematics on the board. I had answered the first maths question and was about to go to the next question when suddenly, I discovered that I could not see the board anymore and could no longer see other things. Everywhere became dark,” she said. The struggle for answers led Precious to visit numerous hospitals, but none could provide a concrete diagnosis for her blindness. It was only when foreign doctors visited her village that she was diagnosed with glaucoma. “I visited many hospitals, and after diagnosis, the doctors told me that there was nothing wrong with my sight and that they did not see any defect, yet I could not see with my eyes. That was how I managed the situation till I got to SS2 in 2012 and could not go further. So, I stopped going to school until 2018 when a group of evangelists came to my place and told me about Oji River Special Education Centre. They took me there where I took remedial courses using learning equipment such as typewriters and other technological tools and after that, I enrolled at St John of God Secondary School in Awka where I started from SS1 to complete my secondary education,” the lady added Undeterred by her condition, Precious continued to persevere, seeking education and a chance to overcome her disability. Despite facing many obstacles, Precious had to abandon her studies for several years. It was only in 2018 that a group of evangelists introduced her to the Oji River Special Education Centre, where she underwent remedial courses using learning aids such as typewriters and other technological tools. Precious, currently a 100-level student of Guidance and Counselling, expressed that she never anticipated being named the best physically challenged candidate in WAEC. “I took the SSCE, National Examination Council exam and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination last year. My visual impairment delayed me and prompted me to enrol on remedial courses to perfect my use of reading with study aids. I felt happy and excited and each time I think about it, I ask myself whether it is real. Before then, I had already received the 2022 Best Art Student award at St. John of God Secondary School, so when the WAEC award came, it made me very happy and made me feel that my hard work paid off,” Precious said.

On speculation of Osimhen undergoing more surgery to remove the six plaques and 18 screws ithe n future, the surgeon stated that it won’t be necessary. He added; “The plaques do not need to be removed unless there is an urgent need, for example they develop an infection. The titanium could alter an x-ray, but I don’t think Osimhen wants them removed. “When we performed the surgery, we used the best quality plaques in the world and had to study very carefully where to place them, so there was protection should the player have to head the ball. “He seems to play even better than he did before, it gives him security. He has become world class.”

Blind man who can use a computer gets scholarship in Canada

A man has defied odds and triumphed over a hurdle that some people with visual impairments confront when traversing the world.

Through perseverance and determination, Paul Okpanachi was awarded a scholarship to continue his studies in Canada.
Samuel Ayankoso, a companion of Paul’s, sent Legit a note about how the two met at the American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt, when Paul was on a scholarship.
During their post-graduate studies, Samuel’s companion, Paul, who is a graduate of Kogi State University, was highly encouraging, according to Samuel.

With the help of a smart screen reader, he told Legit that Paul could even use a computer.
Samuel said:
“Before Paul left Nigeria in 2018 for his studies at AUC, he was an investigative journalist with the Kogi State news agency, and those at his workplace didn’t want him to come for his masters. Yet, their salaries were not paid consistently by the Yahaya Bello government.”

Paul returned to Nigeria after graduating from the AUC with a 3.67 CGPA, where he has been having a lot of troubles; his family was raided one night by robbers, and he had to fend them off.
Samuel said:
“In fact, he has been a victim of the alarming insecurity in our country. This was what happened: Paul and his wife were robbed on a bad evening in front of their rented apartment in Abuja. They collected his wife’s phone and despite being blind, he tried his best to push the guys away from collecting his own phone too. Thank God he was not shot or harmed in the process.”
Paul’s luck turned around as he secured a fully-funded scholarship to continue his studies in Canada.
