Two reasons why Man Utd fans are joining Manchester City in Premier League title celebration

Two reasons why Man Utd fans are joining Manchester City in Premier League title celebration

Manchester City were crowned Champions of England for the fourth time in five seasons as they overcame a late two-goal deficit to defeat Aston Villa in a dramatic 3-2 scoreline on Sunday.
It had seemed as though City would lose the title after falling  2-0 behind Villa, but everything changed when İlkay Gündoğan scored in the 76th minute.

Two minutes later, Rodri equalized before Gündoğan added his second that ended up being the title-clincher – this was the moment that spelt a big news for not just the Citizens but their neighbour, Manchester United.
Two Reasons Why Manchester United Fans Are Celebrating City’s League Victory
Prior to the game, myriad of Manchester United fans had expressed worry that Liverpool’s recent successes, particularly the 2021/2022 Premier League anticipated title would usurp their records.
If Liverpool had snatched the crown from City and eventually beat Real Madrid in the Champions League Final in Paris next Saturday, Jurgen Klopp’s men would have eclipsed United’s 1999 Treble.

Secondly, if Liverpool had pulled off their second Premier League title win in three seasons, it would mean that they would square up their overall top flight championship wins with United at twenty each: a feat Manchester United fans never wanted.
Consequently, City’s victory in the league automatically ends Liverpool’s quest for what would have been a historic quadruple, with the club already having won the League Cup and FA Cup titles (beating Chelsea in penalty shootouts for both domestic trophies) while also advancing to the Champions League final.

EPL: “Winning the Premier League is more difficult than Champions League”

EPL: "Winning the Premier League is more difficult than Champions League"

Ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League final day fixture against Aston Villa, the club’s boss, Pep Guardiola on Friday posited that winning the English Premier League title is more difficult than clinching Europe’s most prestigious trophy, the Champions League.
Though Guardiola’s unpopular view has been shared in the past, It is however understood by his critics that he is trying to console himself and his team for failing to lift the Champions League trophy this season amid expectations.

Meanwhile, Guardiola’s men are on top of the Premier League table with a point ahead of second place Liverpool, with just one more game to go.
The Spanish coach had guided Man City to a Champions League final in 2021 which he lost to Chelsea, and the most recent semi-final in 2022 which saw Real Madrid eliminate his team.
Defending his view, Guardiola said: “The Premier League is more difficult [than the Champions League],” Guardiola told reporters during his pre-match press conference ahead of Man City’s clash with Aston Villa.

“There are many weeks, many games, many injuries, good and bad times, different situations… Success has been there in recent years. Fighting for the Premier League makes sense day-to-day in the changing room.
“I am not saying that the Champions League isn’t important.
“We would have loved to be in Paris next week, but winning 38 games is different from winning six or seven, although it’s always nice.”
