It is no longer news that Nigerian songs are currently making waves around the world, courtesy of the country’s best singers.
A plausible explanation to this is former United States President, Barack Obama’s 35-song summer playlist, which includes two of Nigerian stars: Burna Boy and Tems.

Sharing the list online, the former US leader wrote: ”Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies—it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together. Here’s what I’ve been listening to this summer. What songs would you add?”.
Tems ‘Vibe Out’ and Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’ made the list.

“I cannot wait to call you my president” – Chimamanda Adichie pens moving note to Peter Obi on his 61st birthday

"I cannot wait to call you my president" – Chimamanda Adichie pens moving note to Peter Obi on his 61st birthday

Popular author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has celebrated presidential aspirant, Peter Obi as he clocks 61 years.
To commemorate his day, the award-winning author eulogized the Anambra-born politician with lengthy moving note on her social media page.

She wrote on Peter Obi’s benevolent demeanor; the respect and kindness he showed to her deceased parents as well as how he had always been there for her at the most crucial moments.
Chimamanda also recounted about Peter Obi’s generosity; how he had built so many facility without fanfare to commend him for his efforts.

She trumpeted her support for the Labour Party candidate as she says that she cannot wait to refer to him as her ‘President’.
An excerpt from her post reads:
“Happy Birthday to Peter Obi, my dearest Big Bro:
I will never forget your kindness to my beloved parents. Thank you for the respect you showed them, for your many visits to Abba, where you gave to Daddy and Mummy the most precious gifts: your time and your attention.
Thank you for walking this still-unbearable journey of grief with my siblings and me.
I remember how you regaled Daddy and Mummy with your stories until we started joking about your obsession with the “GDP of Malaysia.” But your obsession spoke of hope: your hope for Nigeria, your belief in what Nigeria could be. A belief that has always been practical, grounded in numbers and in reality.
I remember when you came to support me as I was being honored by the United Nations Foundation in New York, and I teased you about the inexpensive hotel you were staying in, and you shrugged and said, “it’s just a place to sleep, why do I need to be in an expensive place?”
And then only days later, you once again exhibited your incredible generosity to the causes you believe in, and it reminded me of all the hospitals and schools and churches you have supported over the years, and often without fanfare. You have always been clear about what your priorities are, what matters to you, what you believe should matter, and that is deeply admirable.”

“Peter Obi can only become President in Igboland, not in Nigeria” – Kashim Shettima blows hot

"Peter Obi can only become President in Igboland, not in Nigeria" – Kashim Shettima blows hot

Kashim Shettima, the vice presidential candidate of the APC, has declared that Peter Obi cannot emerge the president of Nigeria.
Shettima has maintained that the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate can only be president in Igbo land.

The vice presidential candidate said this in an interview on Channels TV on Friday July 15.
He said:
“The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi has no political base and structure to win the next coming election in 2023. As far as i am concerned he’s politically structureless with little or no experience to lead this country
Nigeria requires a technocrat and a sound Administrator who will continue from where President Muhammadu Buhari stopped not someone who will come to take us back in the era of PDP. Nigerians don’t want that.
Our Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the right person needed for this position in a time like this. He’s a unifier, an Administrator, a technocrat name it. That is why Nigerians both old and young are rallying round him to ensure that he wins the forth coming election.
“Presidential position is not for the unprepared neither is it an all comers affairs. Peter Obi can only become a President in Igboland but definitely not in Nigeria. Nigeria is too big for him to handle. He has no leadership ideology nor experiences like President Muhammadu and our incoming President in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
