Anthony Martial to depart Manchester United next summer as free agent

Manchester United have reportedly turned down the possibility of extending Anthony Martial’s contract, after it expires next summer. While United hold a one-year extension option, they have opted not to activate it, paving the way for his departure as free agent. Erik ten Hag, United’s manager, had previously hinted at ongoing contract talks involving Martial, among other players. However, the decision not to trigger the extension now suggests that the club is prepared to part ways with the 28-year-old forward. Despite his fine start at Old Trafford, Martial has struggled for form this season, finding the net only once in 13 Premier League appearances. The arrival of Rasmus Hojlund Hojlund has further limited his playing time, with just seven starts across all competitions. During the recent 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, United fans even cheered when Martial was substituted off the field. With his contract set to expire, Martial is now positioned to explore new opportunities, either departing as a free agent or potentially being sold during the January transfer window.

Sevilla to battle Barcelona over Wilfred Ndidi’s signature next summer

Sevilla are reportedly entering the race for Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, a Barcelona target for the 2024 summer transfer window. As Barcelona’s financial challenges continue, free-agent acquisitions have been a focus, and Ndidi’s impending contract expiration with Leicester City makes him an attractive option. Raphael Varane set for Manchester United exit next summer

Raphael Varane is set to depart Manchester United next summer, rather than the anticipated January transfer window. The French defender has gradually ran out of luck at Old Trafford, under the management of Erik ten Hag. Meanwhile, contrary to earlier suggestions of a potential return to Real Madrid, sources now indicate that Varane is exploring options in Italy or Saudi Arabia. A source close to the unfolding event told The Sun Sport, “The days are numbered for Raphael Varane at Manchester United, and the clock is ticking on his future.”

The player’s shift to the fourth choice in Ten Hag’s defensive lineup, behind long time bench-warmer Jonny Evans, has fueled his desire for a new challenge elsewhere. The player has already attracted Interest from Saudi Arabia, with offer including a substantial increase in wages. Additionally, Varane is also tempted by the prospect of playing in Italy. He had expressed his admiration for the league before now.

Marco Asensio to leave Real Madrid this summer as a free agent

Spanish winger, Marco Asensio will be leaving Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer. ESPN reported that the 27-year-old footballer who won 17 trophies with Real Madrid, has rejected a contract extension offer from Real Madrid and is in negotiations with multiple clubs, including PSG, who have a good rapport with his agent Jorge Mendes. He is said not to be satisfied with his role in the team and wants more prominence as well as a higher salary. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool have also shown interest in the Spanish footballer. Chelsea set to lose 10 key players this summer amid UK sanctions

Chelsea football club is likely to lose as many as 10 players owing to a restriction imposed on it by the UK Government.

The news comes in the wake of Roman Abramovich (the club’s owner) being the subject of sanctions from the UK Government due to his relationship with Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
On Thursday, Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government and his assets frozen over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Reports say even though Chelsea have been granted special permission to continue operating, the club will be unable to sell tickets to matches, sell club merchandise and most worrisome, sign players when the transfer window opens.
Mirror Football analysed the 10 players on the books of Chelsea who see their respective deals expire in a mere matter of months.

Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azplicueta, Andreas Christensen, Charly Musonda, Saul Niguez, Xavier Simons, Thierno Ballo, Josh Brooking, Sam McClelland and George McEachran are among the players who are either out of contracts with the club or were set to have it renewed.
Hence, it is widely feared that these players will not be fielding with a blue shirt in few months time.
