FG declares Friday and Monday as public holidays for Easter

The Federal Government, FG has declared Friday 7, and Monday 10, April 2023 as public holidays to celebrate this year’s Easter.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration in a statement on Wednesday, April 5, in Abuja. Aregbesola, in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Begore, urged Christians to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, togetherness, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience which were attributes and practices of Jesus Christ, as exemplified by His ministry on the earth. The Minister called on Christians and all Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Easter celebrations to pray for an end to the security challenges in parts of the country. “Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry,” he noted.

EFCC vows to hunt down ‘corrupt’ public officials from May 29

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announce plans to pursue corrupt departing public officials after May 29.

The EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, in a recent interview with Daily Trust on Friday, made this known in his statement. While he did not disclose the identities or number of public officials who would be subjected to the law, Bawa indicated that the commission is currently investigating at least two ministries for fraudulent conduct related to procurement processes. “Currently, we’re investigating two ministries where double payments were made. In one of the ministries, the double payments, cumulatively, were about 20 contracts of over N4bn. “These were contracts that were done way back 2018, and then some group of people, so bold, came up with the same narration. “They moved the documents from the file, forged them, and then of course in conspiracy of some civil servants, raised vouchers and pay. How can that happen if we have digitalised procurement processes?” Bawa queried. He also reacted to calls for his sacking by some civil society organisations. Bawa said, “It is on record that I am the first sitting EFCC chairman to go to court and testify, not once, not twice or three times. We now have some group of people that were paid, we know the people that are paying them, coming up with all sorts of gang-ups. “We are following due process and the rule of law. The court had made a pronouncement, we have appealed that, and there is a stay of execution, what do you expect? We move on!” He observed that in recent months, the agency had put forth a greater effort than ever before to standardize the operational activities of the EFCC, stating that despite opposition, the EFCC would persist in carrying out its beneficial initiatives. “And God willing, come May and June, we are going to make some huge arrests and commence huge prosecutions of people. “And for those people that are not leaving in May, whenever they are leaving, we will be waiting for them to ensure that justice is done,” he added.

Nollywood actress, Adunni Ade has called out MC Oluomo’s aide, Koko Zaria, over an alleged threat to her life.

In an Instagram post that is currently trending, Adunni revealed she had contacted the US embassy in Nigeria, police, and other relevant authorities over the video made by Koko Zaria. She alleged that in the video, the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Lagos, Koko Zaria threatened to deal with her over her. She adds that this trails her comments on certain entertainers being paid money to campaign for a candidate in the 2023 elections. Adunni, however, urged members of the general public to be aware of the situation and hold Koko Zaria responsible if anything happens to her.

Anita Joseph reacts as Uche Elendu accepts her public apology 3 years after their messy fight

Nollywood actress Anita Joseph has reacted to the response from Uche Elendu after she rendered a public apology for calling her.

It would be recalled that Anita Joseph called out her best friend Uche Elendu three years ago and accused her of practicing witchcraft. Anita Joseph also accused Uche of not wanting her to prosper in her modeling business.
Three years down the line, Anita Joseph has rendered a public apology to her best friend in a video posted on her page.
