Governor Babagana Zulum has been re-elected as Governor of Borno state as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Zulum, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state having polled 545,542 votes. INEC Returning Officer, Jude Rabo, who made the announcement on Monday afternoon, said Zulum defeated his closest contender, Mohammed Jajari of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 82,147 votes.

Officially, nine of the 11 governors who sought re-election in the March 18 polls held across Nigeria in West Africa have been declared winners by INEC to return to office for another four-year term each.

The APC politician had taken to his Twitter page to express gratitude to Lagos residents for reelecting him as governor. He had, in the same breath, condemned the attacks that were carried out on voters who had been disenfranchised in the state. However, Falz quoted his tweet saying that he wasn’t re-elected but had selected himself.

The rapper added that everyone had seen the whole electoral irregularities unfold and Sanwo-Olu is only deceiving himself. In his words: “You were not re-elected. You selected yourself. Everybody saw it unfold. You are only deceiving yourselves”

Oyo State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Seyi Makinde, was on Sunday, March 19, declared as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Seyi Makinde re-elected as Oyo Governor Makinde polled 563,756 votes to beat his close rival Teslim Folarin of All Progressive Congress who scored 256,685 votes, while Adebayo Adelabu of Accord Party scored 38,357 votes. The PDP candidate won 31 out of the 33 local government areas in the state, while Folarin came second by winning two local governments of Irepo and Ore-lope.

The state Returning Officer, Olusola Kehinde who announced Makinde’s victory, said; “That Makinde Oluseyi having satisfied the requirement of the law is declared winner of the poll.”

Elliot who was first elected as representative of the constituency in 2015, polled 17,837 votes to defeat his closest rival, Adebayo Bode of the Labour Party who polled 7,822 votes. Thompson Sulaimon Abolaji of the Peoples Democratic Party came third with 1,045 votes. Sharing a photo of the result sheet, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s media aide, Jubril Gawat insinuated that actor, Olumide Oworu’s name was used to rile up the mob for Labour Party votes in the area.
